Guys,

I am looking into making a small run of the rear caliper mounts for the Brembo caliper, you know the one that tucks it in behind the swing arm. I'm still gathering quotes, but I think $50 each is do-able. they would be machined out of 7075 aluminum. to get the price down I'd have to have 12-14 of them made.

Anybody interested?

Would it relocate the factory one to that location?

No - you use a Ducati 2 piston rear brake caliper from a monster or 748/916. I can't take any credit for the idea, I am basing my design on an existing product. I am making 1 for myself and was just seeing if anyone else would be interested. Below is what the 'other' guy's looks like. Mine is similar, I've made a few changes - but in reality this is a simple bracket and really can't be changed a ton. I've got the 3D CAD at work - I can post a few screen dumps if anyone is interested.

that's one of the mods on my list

Does this use the existing rotor, or do you need that from the Duc as well?
Posted:  23 Oct 2008 17:02 [?]
You need the duc caliper. It is a better brake also, 2 piston vs 1. I bought mine on ebay for $40 shipped.

I would be interested I love that clean look.

Anybody know the price of a new ducati caliper in case you can't find a used one? It would be a killer mod that would work tons better.

I'm not sure how much new ones are, you could call a Duc shop and ask. Ebay has them all over the place....  just put "ducati rear brake caliper" in the search. $40 - $60 should be a pretty good price on a used caliper.

I am till waiting on the machining quote, but I'm 99% sure I'll be moving forward with this. I'll need to create the first one and test it to make sure there are no clearance issues first. When it is ready I'll let folks know.

....and just for some back-ground on me, I'm a senior product engineer for the worlds largest automotive parts manufacture. I have 7 years in manufacturing and 2 in product. I will not release a product if I am not 100% confident in it. The components I design at work are steering related and safety is our #1 focus.

I am very close guys. I will have the first machined part today. I will try and get it on tonight. Unfortunately there is snow on the ground and the roads are icy, it might take a few days before I can get out and give it a thorough test session. Looks like $55 will be the final pricing.

So far I have:

i am unclear on whether you need just the duc caliber or caliber and rotor.  if all you need is the caliber count me in as well, that looks awesome, nice winter mod.  thesjolanders@hot.rr.com
Posted:  20 Nov 2008 13:42 [?]
Just the caliper. I used the original rotor and brake line.

Will this Work?
Posted:  20 Nov 2008 21:30 [?]
Yep - that should work. Any Brembo with 84mm mounting centers should work with tis bracket.

Will the hydraulic hose not wear on the swingarm?
It looks a bit tight to me. Yould you send a detail picture of the hose? And maybe one from the other side?

I would probably go for a longer hose if there is a risk on wear.

But the idea and result is really great!

It sure fits the bike. I guess Erik would also give you two thumbs up.

This, together with;
- removing belt guards,
- passenger peg bracket,
- mounting a fender eliminater like the sharknose(colorofspeed)
- and some marco polo black micro lights

It will surely finish my near future XB12Scg (still negotiating. Also Buell dealers feel the crisis...

The idea is great!

Sure you'll sell more of them.

And add powdercoated black.....
