The Ss guards are so ugly. I removed them long ago and haven't looked back. So much sexier without them. It's worth a slightly increased risk of breaking a belt imo.

Thanks Dobe! Not sure how I missed your post, I'm going to try EUBMW first since they're close to me.
Thank you! I'll give them a call.
Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately I don't have the tools/space/expertise to work on it myself. Are there any trusted buell mechanics in the area?
Anyone know of a good mechanic in the DC/NOVA area? My XB12Ss cooling fan is blowing fuses and I need someone to look at it. Unfortunately I don't have a good location to attempt to DIY.
^ Thks for the suggestion. Haven't had a chance to mess with the bike since the CEL came on.
Thanks for the responses. I finally had a moment to check the manual and it is the check engine light. Now to figure out what the cause is....
Today I started the bike like normal....key on, fuel pump on, light goes out, start bike....but then the fuel pump light immediately comes back on and I can still hear the fuel pump while the engine...
Sounds like a battery issue. Clean the battery terminals and connectors. Might want to do the grounds also.
btw: When I say clean, I mean using something abrasive on the metal like this.......
Thanks for the info! I'm going to replace the connectors because when I move them the like goes on and off. Flaya, I really appreciate you posting the part #'s and details, but I don't know how you...
Bump. I have the same issue and I'm looking for the best solution.
^ thanks Wayne! That's what I ended up doing too. Tip of my Allen wrench broke off in the bolt as I was tightening it back up...it's always something lol. Hopefully my bike rides better after this.
Well,I used process of elimination and connected it to what I believe is the coil. Here goes nothin'....
I have the lower airbox removed and I don't see the coil everyone seems to be referring to. I see what appears to be an engine mount with a braided wire that is accessible, but that's it. I don't...
This thread deserves a bump. I've been having ground related issues and plan on giving this a try.
I've been chasing what seems like a ground issue for some time now. I'll clean the battery connections and the bike will run awesome for a few weeks, then eventually it'll start hiccuping. I've...
I think the stock mirrors look good and are somewhat functional. They stick up like crazy bug antennae....I think they're one of the quirky/cool defining features of the Lightnings.
Wow, very nice! Looks totally stock other than that exhaust.
Received the stock mirrors in great shape....thank you very much!
^ interesting idea....I might try a variation of that
Thanks for posting ebr's response.
If people can create software to mess around with the stock ecm, I'm sure someone could program software to work with the ebr race ecm without corrupting it. I...
I would also check the battery connections/grounds. Clean them even tho they might look "clean". It's something quick and easy you can check and it cleared up the similar issues I was experiencing.
Thanks for the replies :) I'll try experimenting with these suggestions....especially the crotch location lol
What makes the attention more surprising to me is in the DC region exotic cars rarely get a second glance(probably because many owners are rich d'bags), yet the little, inexpensive, American made...
Where do you put it?
I've been resting it between the clutch cable and the speedo display, but I think it's scratching the clear plastic dash cover:/ any better options without getting off the...
