I finished the air piston bracket this afternoon. Overall I'm happy with it. When I make a batch of them I'm going to make a couple of small changes to the design.

I machined a couple of pockets for the bolts to sit in. This keeps the heads from sticking out to far. Just for grins I ran a bit around the edge of the bracket just so it didn't look like a simple flat piece of bar stock. I also machined a pocket for the air piston to sit in. I would enlarge this area a little on the next one. The piston mount via drilled and tapped hole. I went with a 1/4"x28 fine thread to get as many threads as possible in the aluminum.

Here is a view of the air shifter from the seat. Despite the way it looks it does not protrude out enough to bother your foot. Than again it unbolts in about a minute so removal would not be tough either.

Next up was the mounting of the air bottle. I choose to mount it on the wheelie bars as opposed to the bike. This way when I remove the bars the air goes with it. I may want to rethink that! The bottle bracket will get clamped to the wheelie bar support bracket.

I notched the bottle bracket to fit around the support bracket. The notch doesn't allow the bottle bracket to twist.

Here is the clamp with recessed bolts. With the bolts recessed they won't hit my side panels I made for the wheelie bars.

Another Friday night at the drag strip. :D I made 14 passes tonight even though the track was a little busier than my previous two visits. The crew at Island has been taking care of us bike guys.

    Best run of the night.

One of the two blunders of the night. I staged the bike at around 9k and I must have given it more throttle to hit 10.5K and the air shifter hit placing the bike in second, the light changed and I left in second. I didn't have my foot on the shifter so there was no way I could have shifted back into 1st. Oh well a 9k launch in 2nd gear. The 60' was horrible but the overall mph was decent.

went to the track again Wednesday. It was Hot as Hell again. Enough so that I had sweat dripping out of my helmet. I made ten runs and called it a night. My times were nothing to brag about as both ET and MPH were down. All in all my runs were relatively consistent. The V-Twin simply did not like the heat. I don't ever recall hearing my fans run so much. They ran so often that my battery light flickered a few times on start up. I found myself watching the IC and battery voltage more so than ever before. With 46 runs on my street Dunlop it is officially toast. Toward the end of the night it simply was not hooking. I have no complaints with how the tire performed overall for not being a drag tire.

    Best of the night.
