You rock! Thanks! I've seen other how to's and videos but more info the better. Primarily, no one ever shows the tools they use, so good info there.
Is the rear harder?
Please bear with me as this my first "How to" for anything......
I'm assuming that you already know how to take your wheels off and have proper stands or a means of supporting your bike...... I myself have T-Rex stands and the front is a tripple tree stand.
******NOTICE.....A under fork or spool stand can not be used on the front and a spool stand can not be used on the rear when removing the wheels.
These are the tools I purchased at a local cycle gear..... Minus the tire beads. They were purchased online at Motorcycle Superstore.
Tools totaled about $55 and balance beads were $27 ( 1oz front....2oz rear)
First things 1st..... Pull the valve stem
Next get out your trusty dead blow hammer and tire bead breaker.
NOTICE.... DO NOT USE A MEATAL HAMMER!!!!! The tool will shatter because its plastic.
This was my choice as it was all that was avalable, but a clamp style is avalable.
Place the bead popper between the tire and wheel. Tap the popper until it stops going in. Work your way around the tire till your back at the starting point.
Now take the popper and turn it at a 45* angle and tap it it till the fattest part of the wedge is between the tire and wheel. Continue all the way around till the bead has popped loose.
Now flip and repeat the whole process on the other side.
Now it's time to get out your wheel protectors and tire tools
Place the wheel protectors on the rim and place the curved end of the tool (cup towards tire) between tire and protector.
Work your way around the tire with the protectors and tire tools
Get your new tire and you favorite soap from the kitchen...... Lube up the bead and push the tire on the wheel..
Now it's time for the big spoon....
You really though you were just going to push both sides on?!? Not a chance!!!!!!
Slide it in .... Don't forget your wheel protectors!
Work the tire around the wheel. At this point you will learn a few new words and wonder why you thought you wanted to do this....
When its said and done you will have a wheel on a tire.....
IF USING BLANCE BEADS YOU NEED TO SEAT THE BEAD 1st!!!!
Once seated install beads per directions, replace valve core and air up.
You have just changed your tire and balanced your wheel........

Is the rear harder?
Nice little write up..... If you don't mind me adding something. While pushing the first part of the tire bead on, make sure you have your thumbs are on top of the tire. Not on the inside of the bead.
It sucks to bang your thumbs on the rim while pushing the tire on..
Swapped out your golds for black huh? I'm thinking of doing the same! good write up!
Actually it was easier since its larger and more flexible. In my book the front is harder. Is the rear harder?
nice job there sir, great pics and write up
Yup! Ambers were all chipped and stained. I traded them for the Galfer wave rotor I also installed.Swapped out your golds for black huh?
Sweet write-up!!
I need to invest in a bead breaker, I just fought my front and Declared total war on my rear tire when breaking the bead in a vice.
^^ So truemake sure you have your thumbs are on top of the tire. Not on the inside of the bead....It sucks to bang your thumbs on the rim while pushing the tire on..
And AWAY from the tire when seating the bead!
Question....aren't you supposed to find the lightest point of the tire and align that with the valve stem on the wheel? How do you find this point?
