    Hey all,

About 6 months ago I picked up another XB9S that needed work. It had a horrible rattle/knock but only had 2500 some odd miles on it. With the help of the forum and specifically squidbuellie, I found out the front cylinder and piston were severely beat up. Here is a video of what it was before.

Here is a video after getting it all back together

The noise is definitely gone and the bike seems to run well for the 10-20 min I've run it but the headers are still smoking after a few min of running. At first I thought it was coming strictly from the rear but its actually both headers. It doesn't bellow out like it would with an exhaust wrap but its definitely noticeable. No leaking coming from cylinders or gaskets that I can see.

Any ideas what could be causing it?

I'm bandwidth impaired so I haven't been able to watch your videos, but in answer to your question, is it possible that you got oil on your headers while they were off the bike and lying around? It wouldn't take much oil for the dust and oil to make some decent smoke for a while.

Try cleaning the header with warm water and soap using those Scotchbright cleaning pads and see if that solves the problem.

    Good luck

Appreciate the responses! The headers definitely sat there for the months it was apart, I'll clean it up and see if it persists

yea, if you touched your headers with oil on your hands they're going to smoke.
