What if I warmed the rubber up a bit. So it'll be more plyable.
Ok so I rebuilt the top end. And now everything is back together now except the crank case breather. I can't get the front cylinder breather in the grommet. I've taken the grommet out and put it over the breather and tried to get it in there that way. But the grommet isn't seating that way. I'm guessing because its a new grommet it's stiff and it's not going in as easily as before. I also tried lubing it and sliding it in. No luck. Are there any tricks to get it in there. I don't want to drop the motor again.

Yeah I'm gonna try that. Cause it gets hot anyway. What the hell. Why not
buellski: a heatgun will do it. just be damn careful not to get the grommet ridiculously hot....or your fingertips.
Ok. I was gonna use a mapp gas bottle. I guess I'll run by harbor freight for on if I can't get my hands on one at work. And yeah I just want to get it more plyable and flexible. Do you think I should hear it when the grommet is on the motor and then put the breather tube in it or take it out, heat it, put it on the breather tube, and put it in there as one. I don't remember it being this hard when I did the re-route.
Thanks guys. The help is much appreciated
Did you try a little engine oil in the grommet first?
edit: never mind, guess I need my glasses to read
heat it...get it nice and soft but prior to that if you can heat up the breather mounting grommet hole in rocker box lid as well. just ram her home, son. then a little lube around ID of it and push in breather assembly.
heat it with a hair dryer or a heat gun and it should get soft enough to get it in .
Alright. That sounds like a plan lunatic.
