OK...All Balls said I need to check with the manufacture....Harley can't answer. All Balls says fits XL Sportster (up to 2008)...but dude in parts checked and says there was no change in the starter of a HD 1200 XL from 2008 to 2009....I'm ordering....let you know "for the record"....

    Howdy Buellers-
OK, It's been on for some time now....such a pain in the arse having to pull the primary, etc...
No complaints so far...well...maybe that's a bit to mild-
The All Balls is a bit longer, and you have to manipulate the oil lines a bit after installation.
This last week it wouldn't start (I was at Auto Zone picking up some parts for the Jeep).
Found the single wire connector at the bottom of the starter pulled away from the starter housing...a little wiggle while pressing the start button and it fired up. I got home, used a coup[le of wire ties to secure it and so far no issues.
I plan to repull it when I get time and see if I can make a "permanant" fix.....right now I have "legal" issues to contend with.
(Anyone one of you Bullers a lawyer?)

    de-de-de-de....update:
I found I could access my problem (without starter removal) from the right side without pulling the primary, etc.
(The stinking internal finally broke (single wire hot feed) all the way)
Tryed to re-solder- it was a no-go for a "good" job....that will have to wait till next time- I can't be down....I just can't!!
...so I had just enough to work in a wire crimp to another length of wire, and VROOM.

    Bottom line....ya never know!
