From 30mph, brake to 5mph, three times without stopping.
Then from 50mph, brake to 5mph, slightly harder, three times without stopping.
Then from 70mph, brake to 5mph, even more quickly (but not a 'panic stop') three times without stopping.
Now, ride for 5 miles without using the front brake and park it overnight.
The cooling off period is important for even distribution of pad material.

Followed the bed-in procedure exactly as listed on a Slovakian (not made in China LOL) front rotor.
You people scarfed up those EBR rotors pretty fast

    New EBC sintered brake pads.
    Outside temperature (cool) 65 degrees.
Paid more for this rotor, waited forever to get it.
The rotor has performing perfectly but after the above procedure... discoloration.

For future reference did I get it too hot?

I don't mind the rainbow effect and I suspect it's here to stay anyway if I did.
Just curious if there was an option to avoid this discoloration and still reap the benefits of a proper bed-in.

Currently looking for something to compliment in a rear rotor... I do like this design a lot.

Whoa, how were the pads doing? You only want to do a couple stops once you start experiencing brake fade. Were the pads on fire or is the rotor that bad?

Well since I'm a cheap fu@k and an idiot I will admit I've had junk Chinese rotors on my track bikes and I must say after VERY heavy braking they have NEVER discolored like that!

I WILL check with her, thanks for the lead. Pads need to be looked at a little closer. I'm not that excited about this I have my perfectly good OEM set up. Concider it food for thought with this VERY popular many times re-posted thread concerning aftermarket rotors and THIS particular procedure. Inferior steel? possibly, lets hope that the day never comes it's all we have left to to keep the Buell's running.

If not to collectively learn... what are we doing here

I appreciate the offer, good to know.

So has anyone been wondering about these aftermarket REAR rotors? Be happy to burn one of those up too. Having some real fun with the seller. ebay says they can recover the entire sale for me but I think a fair review with pictures will keep others from buying. Actually the poor fellow has captured my sympathy in email. I know right! I should burn him like the rotor but I think he makes Trumps list of **** hole counties so I'll just eat it and donate. I'll request he not sell rotors for our beloved and unique Buell brakes.

If you're that concerned with the rear rotor matching, It might be easier to just take a stock one and have whatever shaped holes you like machined in to it.
