    This is why you should always check your primary to make sure the PO has up-graded the shoe.

    Been there. Total carnage in the primary. Was welded by an expert, but could not get it 100%, so I am now at the stage of swapping cases.

    Change that shoe!

    what does this shoe do? how does one check and see if its been changed?

    This is the primary chain tensioner. The only way to tell is open the case, unless you can see it through the inspection hole.

    The one on the left is the cheap original, the one on the right the good one.

    Wow, thanks for the heads up!!! I've been in there before just to scope stuff out but never realized the potential danger. I will check it again this weekend!

    yes, this along with the oil pump drive gear should both be upgraded on tubers!

    dammmm thanks for the heads up, ive had my x1 for 5 years and its at 30,000kms and ive never checked it!! definatly going to this weekend!
