No matter what the case I definitely struck a nerve on the forum... Lol madness has ensued.....
+1 for buying a Uly. Only problem is you won't want to sell it after your trip.
IMG_2295.jpgDO IT!!!
If you're camping and fire road guy, get the ULY.
If you're a backroad and cheap hotel guy, buy bags for your XB. You will be surprised how little you really need. I never even did laundry, but I bought a new pack of undies and socks at Walmart when mine were dirty
I thought my XB was totally comfortable enough for the 100-120 miles between gas stops and I was praising the Baby Jesus that I was NOT on a Road King everytime I found a sweet curvy road (which was a LOT).
Which brings me to my original point... DO IT!!!!
Please allow me to suggest some rules for your trip. All are guaranteed to make it better or your money back.
Plan less. Even less than that. keep going... a little less... ok that's good.
Do NOT travel any interstate highways. The only exception to that rule is the I-70 west of Denver through the Eisenhower Tunnel and past Carbondale.
Do NOT plan your next stop until after lunch, but before sundown.
If you feel like you want to 'get there', don't speed up! Slow down! or even spend a whole day not going anywhere. It really works.
At every gas station, ask a person filling up their car wheres a good place to go/eat/ride. (Got a home cooked Thanksgiving dinner once)
Always say "Yes." (Got laid too)
Most of all, Do it. There are no bad motorcycle trips.
