8mm nuts.
Sorry.
What was the 8mm nut driver bit, added to later model XB tool kits, used for?
8mm nuts. Got it. Good god, Cooter ...
The only 8mm nuts I've found on my '04 are on the speedo cluster mounts. Surely Buell wouldn't have added that bit just for those. Maybe the 1125's, for example, had some commonly accessed component which used 8mm nuts?
I noticed a lot of OEM ebay tool kits had them and I was just curious.
We're just having some fun. I'll have to check my tool kits out and see if any are in there.
O.k. I just checked, my buell tool kit also has one. That doesn't help you much other than, they do come with it.
seeing as how this board has been flooded for the past 4 months with posts of "look at what i did" and "found this for sale on the worldwideweb".....a change of pace long overdue........so.........here's your hints:
1-tool fits a perishable.
2-factory changed the OEM hardware somewhere in late 2006 rendering the tools' usefulness obsolete.
3-invaluable if stranded in some parking lot without access to any other tools
4-designed to be used on one of the top 3 "most highly discussed" components in board history.
have at it ladies.
Plenty of them avaialble

I'm guessing at this, but I'll take a shot at #4, T27 right angel tool ?
Okay, well, perishables (consumables) are things like -
spark plugs .... no 8mm nut there
oil filter ... nope
air filter ... none there
brake pads & fluid ... ditto
Discussed components, certainly these at least -
ECU
airbox
exhaust
... again, not on mine.
Being metric, it would have to be an 8mm nut on a post '04 electrical or suspension component, I would think.
Good clues, but I'm stumped.
not even close yet. another clue: without it your bike never leaves the garage/apartment complex parking lot/storage shed/living room/rental cubicle.
