    New member from south italy.

    Hi to all guys,

I,m new to the forum,my name's Giuseppe i live in Sicily and i love all kind of american engine,i'm owner of a '81 Corvette C3 and now I'm looking for a Buell.
It's really uncommon bike instead of the japaneese bike(I already have a ninja 636 for the track) but i love to own one.

Some one can point me in the right way to choose it.
I'm looking for the XB9 because I love engine with short stroke.
If I'm not wrong the M Y post '08 don't have problem with the gear oil pump drive !

I love the cherry bomb color.

    Hi to all forum giuseppe.

Hi Giuseppe - Welcome to the forum. Never been to Sicily but once worked on projects in Livorno Italy and Malta. Impressed with all the history that part of the world has to offer.

Can't state for certain but I believe the oil pump drive gear issue was resolved by the 06 Model Year. If you get an older bike you can always replace the old gear with an updated one.

You are correct about that little issue, but I wouldn't let it stop you from getting a good deal on a rare bike. Try to get a -'08 and up. The Thunderstorm engines were quite an improvement!

2008-2010 have gerotor oil pump which is reliable and maintenance free. You don't want to deal with previous generation oil pump.

Welcome, Giuseppe! Good luck with the search! Keep us posted. I've never been to Italy (or anywhere in Europe for that matter)...but would love to visit someday. So much great motorcycle history in Italy...it would be an awesome place to do some riding.
