I was actually on my way to Boulder to go up Left Hand Canyon road (extremely popular very twisty ride) when the 4 Mile fire broke out and they closed the road. I will try to get some altitude this weekend and get some pix while I'm at it.

Need to get new tires when I get back (visiting the kids in east TX right now) but depending on when this comes together count me in........I'm currently in Kimball, NE till about March/April.

BTW where is a good place to get my tires switched out?

twallace1
10-19-2010, 03:33 PM
As far as Dunlop tires go, no place that I know of beats Grand Prix Motorsports in Littleton, a stone's throw from Rocky Mountain HD. 1/2 price on all Dunlops, they mount and balance and do it while you wait. Best to call ahead and make sure they have the tire in stock. They keep a good selection and their warehouse is one day away.

Front range peeps :D I wanted to bump this and see about getting together to do a summer run, maybe a half day ride or so around the Hwy 285 area???

We could meet in the Springs, take a ride to Woodland Park, then North towards 285. I know a great lunch spot along the way. Denver/North CO riders could then head home on 285 into Denver making a round trip for them. The rest of the Springs/Pueblo riders will get to hit the fun twisties again on the way back!

Let me know if this is something you wanna do

I posted on Badweb asking Ghostrider for some more info on that...I'm planning on coming :) Only thing I need to do first is get rid of my 'Low' seat. There is no way I can ride that far with this seat now [mad]

Still though I wanna try and get a nice half day ride in for some Front Range locals!

08-03-2011, 02:52 PM

agfish18
08-04-2011, 10:56 AM
It is an over night stay. I am riding about 4 hours to Durango from here. Riding up Friday (two-up on an 1125R btw), check out the sights a bit, check into the hotel, have a nice dinner, then hit the rack. Saturday is the ride, about a half day-depending on sight seeing, then a group dinner back in Durango, sleep again, then head home.

there are people looking to room with someone so you can get a room for like 43/ night which is cheap as hell for a resort.

I'm up for a meet, I was hoping to have more than 3 of us on board by now [confused] Anywho, looks like your from Denver, dmp is from Pueblo, and me, just west of the Springs...Kinda spread out ya think? :D

That is the weekend of the Durango thing, so we might have a better meet if we wait a weekend or so after. I really wanna go to the Durango ride, but chances are I won't make the trip. Regardless, I would still go that day if it works for dmp as well...

JesseT,
I have an 03 XB9R I just bought about 2 weeks ago. I am coming from a 92 Yamaha Seca II 600cc which was my first motorcycle that I bought in 2005. My Yamaha was a great motorcycle but there is no argument that this XB9R is 100 percent better. So much more power/torque. I have been looking at Buell Motorcycle since 07 when I went to go check out the new 1125R. I was in love ever since that day. I have been looking for a great deal on one for about a year and finally found a killer deal on this one.

Oh no, no non-Buells allowed :D Would the Springs work for everyone as a meeting point? I was thinking as far as a route (one of my favorites) would be to go to Woodland, past Deckers, over to 285 and head west past Bailey to the Coney Island place for lunch. One way from the Springs is about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours. If that is too long there is another place in Pine called Zoka's that has great food. That would shave about 30-40 minutes off the route to the Coney Island place. KW could take 285 back in to Denver and the rest of us would head back to the springs via the twisties...

I'm certainly open for other routes so let me know!!!

I am good for the 21st. Would anyone like to do an afternoon ride? We could meet in the parking lot of Rudy's Barbeque at 1:00pm. Rudy's is located on cimmeron / highway 24 headed toward woodland park.

I also could have a non-buell rider that might want to come.

The weather is calling for scattered showers on sunday but I don't mind the rain as long as everyone else is cool with it. Who knows maybe we won't get rained on but it is always a chance.

Are we offically set for sunday 1:00pm at Rudy's? If people want to get there earlier and eat lunch there thats cool then we all could just meet in the parking lot at 1:00.

Yeah, been here off-and-on since '04, but planning to stick around for a while this time.

I work for a company based in Reno and DC, but I'm the only one here in Colorado. My closest boss is over 1000 miles away, and pretty much lets me do what I want, as long as it benefits the company.

Just came across this thread...

I live along peak2peak hwy and just got my bike back on the road a couple of weeks ago. Already racked up 9xx miles :D

I'm out wandering the twistys along the front range whenever I can. Would love to meet up with some fellow buellers for a ride.

Sweet! [up] Glad to have you onboard...

I'm hoping to get everyone a chance to meet up soon, maybe June?

@ 970Geek, sorry you are having troubles. I'm not sure who can help...not too many people from CO on here right now :(

How does the first weekend in June sound ???

Anyone have any preferences on where we ride ???

I don't really consider anything less then 100-150 miles of twistys an decent ride.

Meet in the middle, Denver area ???

970Geek : any luck with your "running lean" issue ??
wish i could help, but I've never messed with ecmspy.

Jesse T

I think that would work for me!

Location wise I'd say it kinda depends on who is in to ride...

Myself and any Springs people can take the back way up to HWY 285. I'd say if we could meet somewhere on 285 that'd be great. That way we are not going back down into actual Denver to meet. Then from 285 we could take a nice curvy route somewhere. I haven't explored too much up around that area so s/o might chime in with a route north of 285 or maybe west of there.

I'd also invite some of my non-buell friends that ride street just to have a few more guys come along. Probably at least 2 I can think of, an RC51 and Duc 1098.

Perhaps an early meet for the Springs guys, 8 o'clock or so and that would put us at 285 around 10:30.

Opinions???

I can look into coming up with a route. Between three bikes I've ridden appox. 50,000 miles of twistys along the front range and western slope.

Looking for just a nice scenic route with a few play areas ??

Depending on who wants to join in, what about meeting at hwy 85 and C470, southwestern edge of Denver. I know a couple of good roads that start near there.

FYI: I ride at a relaxed pace. I'll play a little, but through areas with high residential or tourist traffic I keep my speed respectful.(Keeps me out of trouble with the cops:D )

I live about an hour west of denver.(if your in a car)

that is the reason why i sugested the meeting area i did. it's about an hour from my place, about an hour from the Springs(I-25/hwy85) and about an hour from Fort collins.

I am down to meet where ever though.....

So are you coming down off I-70? Post up a route from that meeting spot and see if it works for everyone. I can meet the Springs guys and ride up that way with them. Otherwise we can take the back way and meet you in the mountains and then take a route from there...maybe in between I-70 and HWY285?

06xbss
05-22-2012, 06:27 PM
I live about 20 miles north of I-70, don't ride the major hwys much.(two lane twistys are more fun:D) I'm really open as far as the meeting spot. For the route I am thinking of, we can meet up with the Springs guys at Sedalia.

Route is a little longer then I remembered, but with a lunch stop, easy enough for anyone to do without getting to saddle sore.

http://mapq.st/Ml6PEG

main reason i was thinking this route is just because I don't want you Springs guys to have all the fun running from Deckers to 285. [cool]

let me know what you guys think, I know an easy dozen different routes within the same area. with all the canyons in this area, the route can be changed on the fly without any trouble.

Jesse T
05-23-2012, 07:22 AM
I think the only problem with that route is step #4 before Deckers, it says portions unpaved. I think I've been down that way from the Deckers side and I had to turn around cause it turned to dirt...

I've never been that far north on the bike, how far is Estes Park area (ride time) from the Springs?

I put the word out to a few on my car forum and also my UPS guy who has that Duc 1098. So I'm still waiting to see who is all in...

I was going to go scout that later this week, last time I took that route there was a one mile section of really well maintained dirt road. Depends on the rider, little bit of dirt never bothered me.

The route is still open... One nice thing about this area is all the canyons to choose from.

The end of that route is about a 2hr ride from the Springs.(I-25) Estes Park is a 2.5hr-3hr ride from the Springs.

Here is another fun route in the area that starts from the same place. http://mapq.st/Jnvbiz

we'll have to see about setting up another Front Range Buell ride. I'm out wandering the canyons almost every weekend and when I can during the week.

Had an R1 and R6 about 8 years ago, so yeah I guess Im kinda relearning things. Very new to Buell and looking for a Good shop in denver to tune it. Not been bothered yet, but i have the stock exhaust for now.

06xbss
06-14-2012, 01:24 AM
My previous bike was a CBR600. Not sure how your 12R will compare, my 12Ss is a lot more fun/comfortable to ride. Really nice having power everywhere instead of just an upper rpm power band.

Are you talking ECM tune or just general maintenance tune??

Noise ordinance is 82db, could probably almost exceed that with the stock can. Cops are more after the idiots on choppers that would see how much noise they could make at 2-3am.

CO Buell:

If you go with Hawk exhaust, I think you can just send your ecm to him also. He'll flash a new map to it. When everything is installed just do a tps reset and your good to go.

you could also try calling High County Harley and see what their prices are for a tune.(only place i know of for Buell off hand)

Thinking about cutting the stock exhaust but dont just want to gut it....
Any help would be greatly appreciated..

06xbss
07-04-2012, 03:39 PM
My bike had the factory race kit on it when I bought it. Muffler, ECM, and filter. My air box had also been cut.

I just replaced the filter with a K&N, did the breather re-route and NGK plugs. The bike runs/sounds great.

There are a lot of threads about cutting the factory muffler. Do you want to keep the exhaust servo ?
Just after a better sound or more performance? Depending on what you do, you'll at least need a tps reset. Might need a full tune.

CO Buell
07-06-2012, 12:11 AM
Not sure about the exhaust servo??? Just finished the breather re-route, plugs and K&N are next on the list.
As for the exhaust I'm looking for better sound and performance wouldn't hurt :)
Mainly dont want to lose performance and want to gain good sound.

I know this is kind of late notice...

I'll be wandering some of the canyons just west of Denver on Sunday. Plan on linking up a bunch of roads to get a 150-250 mile ride in, weather will determine the amount of ridding.

Meet either at the Golden 7-11(just off hwy93, northwest corner of town) or at the Conoco just off 470 at the Morrison exit at 8am.

CO Buell

Next time I'm in!

06xbss
07-07-2012, 04:13 PM

I've been lucky, only been a couple of minor electrical problems with my bike in 22,000 miles.

CO Buell
07-07-2012, 05:45 PM
Going down the highway I first got the yellow check engine light intermittently, then solid, then lost instrument cluster, then rough running engine, then complete loss of power and dead battery.
Battery tested fine so charging system is the problem. Just need to test stator and voltage regulator to see if both are bad or if it's just the regulator. Really put a damper on my nice Friday ride!

Problem is, with my current job, I don't have a set schedule. Kinda crazy/annoying, work two days then a day off, then work 7 days, then 2 days off, then work one day, then 1 day off............................................... ....

We've tried to get a couple of rides together last summer, never seemed to work out. :( I've been slacking on keeping up with this thread this summer.

Weather permitting I'm out almost every weekend and sometimes after work during the week. I live a little north/west of Black Hawk and most of my riding is along the front range between Deckers and Lyons. Some trips further north, south, or across the divide.

New to the forum, but not to riding! Season is starting to wrap up, but if any other Denver Bueller's are out there & wanna ride on a weekend or weekday - message me here!

Just got my first Buell XB about 2 months ago & already put over 1,000 miles on it. Absolutely LOVE This bike.. Turns every head I roll by.

I've already found lots of great info on this forum, so it's good to have this as a resource!

Anyway, greetings to my fellow Denver riders! :D

good ol colorado.. was sweating on the way out of town.. had snow building up on me and the bike on the way back in!..Bi-Polar state.. hot, cold, fire, flooding, snowing in full sunshine and still considered to be in a drought..

ouch that sounds rough ccdirtrider05. question for who still reading these. i have a carbon windscreen... it is a bit bigger, well it touches my front brake res. i want to chop it down to the right size and want to know who would like to meet so i would draw the lines on the tape.

North Colorado is pretty vague. I'm in Westminster and am always happy to meet other local Buell owners. Where are you at? Maybe someone close can swing by and give you a hand.

Would like to meet up with some Colorado folks this coming season. Rode my 1125cr less than a thousand miles this past summer. Need to change that.

less than a thousand miles this past summer

Wow........ thought I was slacking, only putting 7xxx miles on my bike this summer.

Haven't had much luck meeting other riders from here, we'll have to try and change that next summer.

Well CO buell riders, the time is approaching any chance we try do a meet up? I'm in northern area, I also have one problem, I'm running rich and need to know some solutions any of you might have. I bought used I belive the pipe is aftermarket and my intake is opened up. Harley is saying something around 800 to tune it since I need a tuner. What are my better options? Ecmspy, might need help with fiddling with it.

Big bump!!! :D

I have been MIA for a long time on the forum...dang life is always getting in the way. I only seem to get out half a dozen times a summer but it's hard when you have a family and other hobbies.

Hopefully this spring we can get a ride going. Are the guys still hitting up Morrison once a month in the warmer months?

^Sweet Taco!

Hey guys! Glad to see some activity on here. I'm just posting again to say hello and that I'm still around but I just don't get out too much. Sadly life is keeping me from riding a whole lot. I am needing some new brake pads, any suggestions before I go searching the forum?
