Any other 1125R owners get annoyed at having to defend it to the end by people saying its a Harley?

Moron: "Hey, isn;t that the Harley sportbike?"

Me: "No, it's not. It's a Buell, Made by Buell, at a SEPARATE factory, with completely different technology, with an Austrian engine in it that sounds nothing like a Harley since it doesnt idle at......50. Oh and do you see chrome? I don't...keep walkin."

Real story:

douche: "Hey man, why didnt you get a crotch rocket instead of a Harley?"

me: "What the **** are you talking about?"

It's funny how people get so sucked into the Harley culture without even realizing that they paid way too much for a outdated machine. If one needs to buy American they should get a victory. Way better bike that's way more affordable.

I had stopped at a gas station to clean the large quantity of bugs from my helmet visor after about 100 mile ride, the attendant asked what kind of bike I had, when I responded with Buell 1125R he looked puzzled and said "I dont know what that is, but I assume a crotch rocket?" then went on to regail me about how his buddy, who has a CBR, drove 25 miles in 12 minutes (across town on the freeway) because he thought he was being chased by the cops. His education level by the way he spoke was roughly 6th grade... or highschool graduate who smoked LOTS of pot.

TRUE! I rode up to the BX the other day to get some food. Pull up to the little slash marked area around the parking spots and there sits a black/gold Buell. (BTW this was at Offutt AFB was that anyones bike on here!?) Anyways I parked next to the Buell in the opposite direction and behind it was a Harley. I go get my food and come back out and the Harley is gone. I start putting my gear on and look down where it was sitting... Fresh oil stain. LOLOLOL I just laughed as I rode away! BWAHHAH

I always thought I would get a Harley when I got older. I will never own one after buying my Buell. 1. because of the recent events 2. definitely over priced. I agree with Alfatango1...Victory! That is what I would be getting over a Harley if I was into cruiser kind of bikes. I like them, just don't have a desire to ride one anytime in the near future!

Pffft! I'm 46 and stillhave no use for one of those overpriced/underdeveloped POS's.[down][down] I owned a softtail back in 1989 and it was JUNK. Eight months owned and four months in the dealer!
I would buy a Victory or a Triumph Thunderbird instead.

the thing i always hated about harleys was the ego driven attitude that the riders had toward other bikes.
i have had plenty of bikes, and still ride a fatboy. one day out and about on my firebolt i pulled into a place where riders were stopping along a run. no one would even talk to me, not that i cared. it was funny.
some of the stories above were probably people just admiring your ride, and while maybe they didnt have the facts straight, they were interested in your bike and just being friendly. and you respond like that? maybe you would have been happier if they would have told you buells suck, 'busas are the bomb. you complain when buell gets no respect, then bitch when someone shows them some admmiration and respect.
but hey, you are displaying the same attitude harley riders are known for, so maybe they werent so far off if you really think about it. [down] ....just saying.

No doubt Ronin...I am turning the corner soon on 40 and I wont ride a cruiser of any brand, especially not a hardley. And whoever thinks that when they get to "that age" to ride a cruiser, then they dont have very high expectations of themselves. [smirk]

I work in the oilfeild and am staying in the same trailer as a hardcore Harley Guy.......we started talking about how H/D stoped Buell production, and his comment was........."good riddens, they were junk anyways"......to wich i responded......if they where junk why was harley looking to Eric Buell for ideas on how to make their products better, and why didnt they just sell off Buell if the were just junk. i told him that H/D was affraid of the competition in the v-twin market and that eventually Buell would have surpassed anything H/D could have ever dreamed of........He got pissed and ownt talk to me anymore.:D

They started in Germany but relocated in 1943.

I can see myself riding something more cruiser-like when I get older. Not because I'll think I'm old and should be on a cruiser, but just because I know that I've made a transition from being 17 and wanting the fastest sportbikes so I could ride around at never less than 90mph, to being in my mid/late 20s and enjoying a bike that's a little more upright, and a little more fun to ride at more reasonable speeds, while still being fast, so who's to say that 20 years from now I won't prefer my feet to be a little bit more forward and my seat a little cushier, so I can be comfortable just cruising?

At the same time though, my idea of something fun to cruise on would be the bike above minus the clipons, something like a Honda cb550 with some lowrise bars, or if I'm not too old and weak, something like a zrx1100/1200.

myronman - the first guy was a douche and was acting like one, so I treated him like one. The second guy was a friend of mine, I can talk to him like that :)

I defend my bike till the end cause NO ONE believes in it and Erik like I do in my circle of friends which is HUGE! I wouldnt trade my 1125 for any Jap bike on the market, ever... And yeah, its a little annoying when people call it a Harley. The battery is, not the bike.

I didn't mean any disrespect to anyone! to tell the truth, I'll have to see where I'm at and what I'm doing when I'm at that point. then I'll see what kind of bike I'll get. I've always romanticized about going on a long trip on a cruiser though. But thats just me.

So riding has always been in my blood, and I've always liked the old Harleys. but I'm Totally Anti 1997 and Up Harley, the Image and Mentality of the entire Company Changed.

Ditto to everyother_time...I grew up riding to school on the back of my dad's '82 shovelhead. When I learned to ride I spent a day on a dirtbike them move to that shovel. Rode that thing all over the state of Florida till I turned 18 and shipped off to the military. Someday in the future I'll own a harley, it'll probably be a shovelhead, for cruising with the wife...doesn't mean I don't love my buell though!

I'm 53 and I have a Uly. I always thought I wanted a Road King until I got on the Uly. Boy was I wrong, the Buell is everything I ever could have wanted in a bike. I will ride this thing until my insides are dragging behind me. I know, a little graphic but it was for effect. There is nothing like a Buell from any manufacturer out there and it was built right here in the good ol' USA. American enginuity is the reason that America has been a leader for the rest of the world. What we can build with a handful of people and resources it takes entire countries everything they have and we still came up with ideas they did not even dream about. America, is there anything it can't do?

Actually the last anal probe produced no bad results.
So the pink sock is still in place, however at 70 or 75 years of age I might have the analplasty just to make sure, maybe in Carbon Fibre flexible reinforced
webbing for stregth.

Smitty, you ever hear of the Yellow Wolf? Rides a big yellow Goldwing at the Dragon...fastest thing through there...the man makes a big difference.

DrogeN, You must have bought an 1125 recently, since when mine was new...early summer 08, it was $14,999.00. You can buy almost any import for less, except for Ducati and Aprillia...
