Im in the process of purchasing my 1st Buell, a 2004 XB9S Lightning. Im looking at shortening the tail and a few other mods, but I cant seem to find the maximum tire size for the front and rear. If anyone knows and could fill me in, Id greatly appreciate it!

well 380 is the biggest tire size they make but why???? a 200 with single sided swingarm would look bad ass on that bike and still handle half was decent.

380 for a buell or more ment for custom bikes?

think a 200 can be fitted on the original swingarm, but you will need a chain conversion. although i'm not 100% sure. [confused]

I think a 190 is the biggest you can fit on the rear completely stock, with the belt drive and everything.
Have not seen it but that's what I've read here.
I don't know about the front.

210 will fit stock.
Check out this month's Fuell Magazine if you wanna know how big you can go...
That is if yer willin' to modify the hell out the back end...

A 210 will fit?
That's a pretty big tire. I wander what the handling is like.

I personally wouldn't recommend anything bigger'n a 190 unless yer goin' for the "NO F*CKIN' WAY" factor.

the black bike at the end of the mag is sporting a 24o and damn it looks good , but not for me 180 is as big as it goes for me on my xb12s the 190 rubbed the finder to tall aor round at least the M3s are. so dropped back to a 180.

i put a 200 50 17 on my xb12r and it does not look right because the wheel is not wide enough. if i can find another rim cheap i will send it out to be widened 1/2 inch.

I know this is a way old thread, but slag did you have to do a chain conversion to fit that tire or did you only have to shave the belt-guard? I'm asking this because a friend of mine gave me a xb rear wheel (from a scrapped sportster project he was working on) with a brand new 200/50/17 on it and when I line it up with my 180 it really doesn't look much bigger. It doesn't like the belt would be an issue at all only the belt-guard, and my back tire is to the cord so I could few bucks on tires. I know that everyone says 190 is the biggest without a chain conversion but has anyone on here actually tried tried a 200? Just curios.:D

No you don't need to do the chain conversion. I have friend that had a 200 on. he had to drop the guards and the swingarm fender

You can't use the fender?

Yeah, past 190 you have to take off the hugger and belt gaurd. I put a 190 on last tire change and am very satisfied with it, lots easier to drop in.

Yeah those tires you've got have a pretty damn steep drop in. I've never ridden on tires that steep, but I'd like to

Its nice, you dont have to push it so hard on tight corners. Its a bit scary for a bit till you get used to that weightless feel before the throttle pulls u out of it.

I wonder if a 200 will have too much drop in. I'm going to try it anyway. Wish me luck.
