I'm in need of cheap XB12 header with rash on it for a fab project. I dont need to buy immediately, this is really just a feeler. I'm trying to total up the costs.

lol yea i need cheaper than that. i'm on a super budget until my legal woe's are over. Which will be very soon. but once i get a new header I'll sell you mine for. . .? make me an offer? not looking to make anything. let's say 40% less than you would pay for a rashed header being parted out?

sure [up] you sir have a deal. the project list has reached DIY exhaust followed by replace header. the exhaust will be done next weekend, so within a few weeks after that i'll save up the dough for the header. here's a pic of it. It's never glowed red or anything, there is no punctures in it. just looks like ass. Surprisingly it goes un-noticed quiet often. there are guys i park by and talk to daily who took weeks to notice.

i actually can't wait to header wrap mine. i just don't want to wrap the rash and risk the heat increase causing performance decreasing damage.

honestly, if you want to wrap them, just wrap the rashed header. Wrap will weaken the header material and most likely crack them either way. Why hurt a new header?

really now. . .? is that a certainty or a possibility?

sorry for changing your thread dave

but wrapping the headers and causing increased heat is actually what header wrap is supposed to do from my knowledge of it, i think the theory of header wrap is to keep pipes hotter, hotter gas moves faster than cooler gas.

It's between possibility and certainly. I've noticed alot of people say. "WTF I just unwrapped my header and it's cracked!" That's because the header heats up so much, then cools down, then heats up again and cools down. Then it gets wet and crack, you're boned.

Header wrap is to simply hold the heat from burning you or heating up the engine compartment.

In such a short distance the higher heat isnt going to move any faster. Hell if this was true you would see race guys with full wrapped exhausts not just the header....
