XB9 broke down on the Highway a couple of weeks ago.Engine management light came on and slowly got dimmer and dimmer eventually the bike stopped. The battery was flat so I checked the entire charging system, including the battery. All seemed fine.
After I start the bike the ECM light goes off then comes on for 5 seconds and goes off again. I rode the bike to the dealer and it turns out the ECM has a fault, caused by the Voltage Regulator going and creating a spike/surge. Do you guys know of if there is anyway that I can add a module or something to protect the ECM from this happening again. Parts here in South Africa are pretty expensive, so I would appreciate any advice.

Do you mean the Check engine light - don't think there's an ECM warning light. Here's a good thread based on the same problem that might help: Bad Voltage Regulator (http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/Buell-Parts-Guy-Questions-and-Answers/Voltage-Regulator-Connector-Pre-08-XBs)
