Hello, my 2002 Buell Blast recently began having problems. Sometimes when I go riding it begins to backfire so much it sounds like popcorn. When it backfires I also lose power until it quits. This seems to be directly connected to the fact that it will randomly just die and not start while going down the road. After sitting a few hours it fires up perfectly. I think its got a bad coil, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Most likely a bad coil, another guy on here had a similar problem, I told him it was a coil but it ended up being something else, but I'm pretty sure in your case it is. You haven't done any carb changes have you? The last guy said he changed it and the crab was fine, ended up being his something he installed wrong in the carb.

On my old blast I had the same problem and if you gave it gas it would bog and such, sometimes not start. I just went and replaced the plug, wire, and coil cause it was all cheap. Ran without a problem then, I would say for the issues you are having, the age of the bike, and the low cost of the parts, change it all.

Thanks yeah it has the original carb on it. I will change out the coil and I'm also planning to replace the manifold coupling, as we determined that it's got a slight vacuum leak. So I think it's a combination of things causing problems with it.

Hey Blasters-

Where can I buy just the rubber boot for the bent intake mod for the carb? Or is it just a stock part that is used on the mod?

I would get the Supper boot on Ebay.

I only need the rubber part, mine is torn from getting bumped off the bike.

Do you just need the rubber intake boot? If so I have a brand new stock one.

I don't know if a stock boot will fit the super boot clamp. If so what do you want for it?

It will fit - it is the clamp that is superior - the boot is stock, but comes new with the clamp.

Old gas will deteriorate, instant dirt and gunk for the carb.

Can anyone help ? I have a 2003 Blast and it will not start ! I replaced the ignition module 2 months ago, so I don't think that is it, the lights come on when I turn the key but all I hear is a clicking noise. I have a huge hole in my V&H muffler from bottoming out on a dip in the road but it was still working then (just loud as hell ! ) It has 10,700 miles on it so maybe replace the plug ? Please help with my issue, this is my only transportation !

Check your front and rear grounds - should be clean and tight.

if you already have the super boot clamp, just get the stock rubber piece and sand down the rubber part that is in the middle on the outside of it and then it will fit perfectly into the super boot clamp.
