I know that there are differences between US and EU models.
But the differences in power and torque are bigger than expected!

Torque; US;114Nm, EU;104Nm. -9,6%!
Power; US;77kW, EU;69kW. -11,6%!
Values taken from US and EU buell.com sites.

What causes these differences? Catalyser, ECM, etc. And to which amount? And what would be needed to get my EU bike (2010 XB12Scg) running like Erik ment it to be?

Thanks for any information.

Catalyser. There is an article somewhere out there on making power on an EU xb9, and step one was US xb12 headers. Made like 10 more hp with just that.

OK, but I all ready have the XB12 headers.

I would prefer getting my bike upgraded using original parts/settings. Than going through mods like filters etc.

But whatever I will do will have to be reversible.
nd as for the exhaust I might go for a high flow cat. Which I found on Dutch and German sites.

It's not just about XB12 headers, it's about the increased diameter of US spec versus EU spec. If you have the EU XB12 headers, then at least some portion of the power loss can be alleviated by changing that.

catalyser...but that's an easily solved problem ;)

Hi Le Fox,

Heared you live in Belgium.
Do you know anyone with the Blaster-V exhaust as sold on Buell Fanatics in Germany?
I might buy one of these but I can not find any review which isn't on their site.

henri66, guys from Italy (FreeSpirits.it) got exhaust for EU headers but without calalyser (408 model), also they got upgraded ecm for concrete exhaust model. if you change both - dyno results show hp & torque increase.
pardon if conserned as adv.

henri, yea...i know a few and they are very happy with sound and perfomance.

they all bought it together with a custom mapped ecm, so if you're not doing that, i don't know what your results will be.

;)

93fee, no problem on the add, it's not a problem here aslong as it helps the buell community here ;)
italian riders? they must be devilstars!

2 LeFox (a bit offtop)

I personnaly know Marcello from FreeSpirits - he is such a great person & a very talanted engeneer. I once travelled all the way from Moscow Russia to Marcello's place just to get a chance to talk to the man himself.
In a couple of days I will install a bunch of his stuff on my STT and make a short write up.

Hello guys.

My first post. I am about to buy XB12SX. I am from Europe (Croatia). I also noticed the torque and horse power decrease for EU models. I read this post, but I am confused. Lefox said: catalyser...but that's an easily solved problem.
So, I don't understand if easily means I DON'T need to change headers or I just need to change the exhausts and mapping? Shortly: what changes needs to be done for European XB12SX to have more HP as US models does?
Also, I have a questions about the exhausts,I don't know should I go to other topic about the exhausts...

rsv (wrong brand ;))

the problem will be solved when getting a full exhaust system, meaning header & can.

@ LeFox: haha! yeah, I have one i can't sell it. Well, I don't want that is. p.s. all my accounts are the same "brand" so I will not change it. But I will become Bully owner very soon(can't wait!)

Uh, that was I was afraid of! Very expensive.

Thank you for clarifying for me, now it's clear! Respect

I just went through this whole mission with my 2008 Euro spec XB12s. I replaced the headers with US Spec/EU 2007 spec headers, put a Drummer exhaust on, K&N filter and an EBR ecm. It's like a totally new bike. Runs sh*tloads cooler, smoothly, much more power. Money well spent so far.

Hi (srxy), I'm also from Europe (Italy)and I have a 2009 xb12ss (were I remouved the catalyser).
Did you install a 2007 header into your 2008?
Did the 2007 header fit on it?. Did you modified the header? (by the oil pomp side of the engine?)
Please let me know, becouse I have a 2005 header that I vant to install on my bike, but I'm not sure if will fit.
thanks
