Ok, I am interested in a a Firebolt..I am getting about $4,000 back in taxes and I have decided to step up from a Blast. I havent been able to find a XB12R with the amount of money I have. My question is how far off is the XB9R to a XB12R??? I have found a couple of places that I could get a 9 for about 3,000-3,500..I just want one that will give me the power to keep up with my friends bikes (I dont need to be faster)... I love the blast, but I need something that can at least keep up with them..If anyone knows of a 12 that I can get for about that much I would appreciate it(It cant hurt to ask)...Thank You..

If you don't care what the title says and don't mind a few simple repairs, I wouldn't, then maybe this bike is right for you.

2007 XB12R for around $4500?

The auction has ended but there is a link to their site where they will sell it outright.

Good luck,

Anthony

Sorry, but I just called them and they said it's sold.

Keep your eyes on Ebay if you want a great deal. I got my '06 XB9R on there for $4,400.

Regards,

Anthony

www.craigslist.com for your area. You should be able to find something. Also don't be so focused on the 12. It only has like 8hp more than the 9. Plus the 9 revs higher. You pipe and jet the 9 and you are at the 12's hp rating. I love the 9 better actually. It is really a better built motor than the 12 is. I just got my 03 9R in December and paid $3150 for it.

Thank yall for the replies so far...I never knew of this craigslist website...Seems to me there aint a lot of Buells in Texas on it...The 9 seems like it may work for me...I just automatically thought that a 12 would be better and that my dad has a 65 pan head and told me a 9 is like a sporty's 883, The chicks bike...So I have to prove I am a man, right...lol... But again that you for your responses...

so there aint must difference between the 9 and the 12??? just a few horse power..

That is all. It is less than 10hp. Tell your old man your 984cc motor will put down more than twice the hp is panhead could ever do.

But no there is nothing much different. Just about 10hp is the only difference. The 9 is lighter than the 12 too.

The 9r also revs higher by about 1000 rpm. I have a xb9r because I get about the same proformance but a smaller insurance bill. I had a 03 xb9r and rode the hell out of it, then traded it for an 07. I have never ridden a 12r but hear there is little difference.

What was the little difference??? I figure they both top out about the same speed just maybe 15-20 mph faster...Just a little quicker on the accelerationis all but other than that i dont know.. Any other info would be helpful and appreciated..

There is no difference in top speed. They both shut down at 138mph because there is no power left to go any faster than that. The 12R will have a little bit more acceleration and that is about it and also another 25-50lbs heavier. I got the 9 and I am more than happy with it. I would get the 9 over the 12 anyday it isn't worth the extra money for the 12.

The 12R may be 10 lbs heavier, but 10 horses and 14 lbs of additional torque isn't exactly neglible. If folks bolted on a pipe that bumped up performance by those numbers, I think it would be considered a substantial upgrade.

I've owned both a 9R and 12R and enjoy the performance of both, but there is a difference, mostly in the seat-of-the-pants torque felt down low on the 12, but the 9 revs easier. The cheaper insurance for the 9 may also be an important factor. The weight difference isn't something that I felt, probably because the weight difference is in the engine, which is located near the center mass of the bike and may be less perceptable.

It all boils down to what is important to you. Cost? Torque? I say demo both and consult your wallet.

There aint a place to demo a buell for almost 4 hours in any direction for me..I went to Austin and San Antonio, both told me that they wont demo a bike unless I was paying cash...So houston would be the next choice. It sounds like a 9R would be just as easy to upgrade as a 12R with out the 12R ever actually getting more then 10-15 horses.. You supposedly wont even feel the difference of 10 horses. They say it takes 20 hp for a person to feel the diffence..I guess it is what ever I can get my hands on...Thanks Guys for all your info...
