looks nice... saves money from having to pay someone else with a spray gun to do it.

I just did it to get some paint on it cost me a total of 30 bucks. It looks better then the 4inch by 6inch bubble I had. I will be redoing it the right way this winter but I got to buy a new paint gun my old one is shot.

It does look good for spray paint. I bought some paint guns over winter so I could learn how to paint a bike well as I have one that needs a new paint job, but once spring came aroudn I just wanted to get out and ride it so I just went at it with some spray paint as well. I'll get to work on the paint guns once it gets later in summer.

I have an autobody background but I also wanted to ride. I think I could get it even better if I cleared it, but I already spent all of last week after work wet sanding it just to get to this point. So I said screw it threw some wax on it and rode it all day Sunday in the rain.(spent all the nice days sanding)

It all comes down to prep work and wet sanding, it takes longer and can be alot of sanding but the end product will look pretty good.

Mine looks good from a distance thats all I really wanted for now. I think I might take this winter and see how good I can get it with just spray paint since I'll have alot more time.(upstate New York winters)

Good looking job, two big [up][up]. I am planning to do the same myself. My question is, what grit sandpaper did you use and did you prime it?

06-07-2010, 05:24 PM
I started with 120 grit then 320 to smooth the sand scratches. Then primed it then went over the whole thing with 600 primed it again wet sanded the primer with 1000 to smooth any high/low spots. Then sprayed it black and wet sanded with 1500 grit. I should have sprayed more black on since I sanded through in a few spots. If I had the patience I would have cleared it and wet sanded it with 1500 or higher to get the finale shine. This way is a little half assed but it works.
