Ok so here we go. I took a shot at it, and I spent around $20 for everything. I can't really figure out how to write out the exact steps so I figured I'd post pics and do my best to answer questions as they come :D. I'll have more pics up of the whole bike, when I can get outside and get it cleaned up.

I traced the line I liked and used a Dremmel Tool to make the cuts and used grinding bits combined with a bench grinder to smooth it out. Here's a shot off the bike. ( I have more at different angles if you want to see)

Some Illuminated shots. I used some small led's from the auto parts store, utilizing the existing wires for the stock plate light. ( if you would like to see more just ask and i'll post different angles and close ups )

Like I said, I took alot of photos (and will add upon request) while I was doing this mod but had a really hard time writing out a step by step of what I did.

If you think it sucks.....well...it's not your bike

:p

I stuck the leds through the rubber gromets where the wires went. also same plate mount just used longer bolts:D

Yes I did the same. I removed the rubber and had to drill out the holes slightly larger( the lights are flush mounted) I'll get some pics of it and post them.

And to mount the plate I used flat 3/4" wide galvanized steel. I played around bending it to get the look right, drilled holes in the mounts and tail section, primed and painted to match.

The LED's were from Pilot ( cheap crap from Autozone [up]) They were called "quadrastrobes" or something like that. There was 4 in a pack with a box that controls the strobing action :p Well throw all that crap away and just keep the bulbs. Hard wire them into the stock plate wires, and I used some clear epoxy glue to hold them in place. A little overflowed and I still have to clean it. I cant wait to get it outa my garage and see how she looks outside all cleaned up [cool]

if you take out the oem tail light you will notice the plastic is clear on the bottom, with that all you gotta do is cut a hole in the housing directly benieth it, then you have a tag light with no extra leds. i did it to my 06 12s last week, ill try to get pics.

Yes I saw that but didn't do it for 2 reasons.

1) With holes in the plastic you're asking for an electrical short in the tail light if any water gets in to the housing.

2) It didnt look as nice with the plate farther back in my opinion. Also I would have had to drop the plate down and back for the light to be effective, sort of defeating the purpose of a "high mount"

I don't understand where you are bolting the license plate in? Did you have to weld a bracket of sorts?
