Hi All

My first post

I'll be picking up a 2009 1125r tomorrow that only has 600 miles on the clock and will need its 1st service.

As I understand it the 1125r uses a standard rotax long oil filter ie the same filter that is fitted to the later Aprillia Mille's and Tuono's is this correct.

Ignoring the HD hype on recomended oils would something like MOTUL 5100 10w40 semi be a suitable oil for the 1125?

The bike im getting is the white 2009 model.
Any hints or tips for this and has there been any recalls for this model?

Thanks

Stu

my buddy who is a mechanic suggested i wait on switching from recommended oil until after my second oil change. he said a few models have has some gasket issues when changed to synthetic early on but after around 1500 he said he hasn't noticed any. im not familiar with that oil so i dont know if its synthetic or not.

here is a link to the filter cross reference and part numbers

More wives tales...!

I've used Mobil 1 in all of my bikes and new engines in my cars at the first oil change with zero problems.
If it leaked before...it "will" leak after going to synthetic. If a gasket was "starting" to leak, it will leak after the change.
Just give all the outside fasteners a light tweek with a wench and use the oil of your choise.

Personally...I wouldn't use the 10-40 except maybe in the winter. Stick with the books suggestion of 20-50 (or in Mobils case 15-50 !)
