I search this but i couldn't find anything.I no that when you get a pipe you have to 1.tune it or 2. buy the race ECM.Well i went on a ride the other day and we stopped at a HD dealer in Sarasota FL.There was a "SALLS MEN" there that told me there isn't anything they can tune in the stock ECM.Now the HD dealer where i live told me for 250 they will dyno and tune my bike.I think he said 3 hours of tuning and up 10 pulls.so i guess my question is can you tune the stock ECM and get good numbers down to the wheel or is the race ECM better.I would rather go with the tune though. Thank you....

ok...

1) don't believe salesmen! most don't know what they are talking about.
and from what i've ready here, especially most harley salesmen when talking about buell :p

2) both the stock or race ecm can be reprogrammed no problem.

3) the results you get when remapping/reprogramming your ecm are better than a race ecm.
why? cause it's made on your setup, whilst a race ecm is made for the buell official race kit (k&n airfilter & buell race exhaust)

4) 250 sounds like a decent price [up]

you have a setup in mind?

Looks good Lefox. So how many ponies did it put to the wheel?? Do you have a 12 or a 9? Did they tune it for you or just dyno it? I have the race exhaust, ecm and K&N so I am leaving mine alone.

106.8hp@5324rpm - 89.51ft-lbs@5141rpm (uncorrected)

enough to make you :D

sweet numbers man i hope to get the same.

dans03firebolt
02-26-2008, 01:27 PM
Hell yeah man that would easily make me smile my ass off. Those are great numbers. My 9 with the Buell Race Kit I would think put somewhere around 80hp to the wheel but I won't know until bike week in Laconia in June. I will dyno the bike then. They have Dyno trailers and it costs like $30-$50 to dyno it.

I justed checked and the pipe will be here tomorrow and i will put it on that night and Thursday i hit the dyno maybe Friday.either way we will know by Saturday what the bike will make. Now one thing that makes me think that i might make more power then lefox is my bike is a 08 with a higher rev limit and different fuel and exhaust then the 07's and older. So we will see....

you might have better numbers compared to mine for low-end power, but above 3000rpm i would doubt it :p

but we will see...and the important things is that you are happy with the result ;)

also, when they dyno your bike, make sure they do not use any correction!

whitezombiebueller
02-26-2008, 08:20 PM
ok will do.I wasn't trying to say mine is better then yours i think you made a real good number.I was just saying that i hope to make the same if not better.I will be more then happy to make what you did.:D

LeFox
02-27-2008, 08:01 AM
hehe...i know :D

but if you do better than me above 3000rpm with the jardine, something is wrong with my setup ;)

i sold the jardine & race ecm and bought micron and got it coated and mapped the ecm

part of my winter-mods :D

What the hell it that in the back round. That bike looks fast...By the way i wanted that exhaust but i don't have that kinda money right now.

dans03firebolt
02-27-2008, 12:43 PM
There is no doubt the Micron exhaust is badass but the price for it is really high but what do you expect for a full system. That front header pipe kind of looks creased at the 2nd curve but it is probably just the picture with the shadow.

no it is...1st bend too, but that's has it's reasons...takes getting used too, but looks great.
and for a full system, it's not that expensive.

dans03firebolt
02-27-2008, 04:39 PM
For a aftermarket header you would think those bends would be better than the factory bends. That looks like it won't flow as good as the factory header. Is it larger in diameter than the factory one? I have never seen one in person.

like i said, it takes getting used too & has its purpose.
the headers are larger in diamter and flow better. look at is as kind of a venturi system ;)

NICE:D:D
also an xb9 dragbike

Looks to me like someone isn't feathering the clutch enough. Hell put wheelie bars on that bike so you can really launch it. Also that thing is lowered a ton. How did you guys lower the back?? Or is that just the compression from the launch?

wheeliebar is not allowed in that class.
and yes, it is lowered...more stable and less compression ;)

also, a bit of frontwheel lift is good...give you more pressure on the rear and thus greater power transfer ;)

lefox i was wondering how much better is the micron than a D&D
looking at buying new exhaust for my 12r and i want the best for performance and sound

LeFox
02-27-2008, 09:51 PM
D&D will give you better low end...but above but micron will do better after that.
although i haven't tested the D&D personally, i just heard them at a meet.

go to american sportbike.com they have a xb exhaust shoot out. a lot of good info there. and yes there is software to tune your buell. direct link has a tuner for the fuel injected buells. works pretty good.

- ceramic coated (in & out) complete micron system
- f.a.s.t. air intake with k&n race cup
- custom remapped ecm module
- and a little 'primairy' secret :D:p

so it's all bolt on parts...

what setup do you have???

well I have the full jardine set up , not as nice as the micron, k&n filter, 5 degree timing advance to tunning yet. building new tripple stage pipe, almost done. it will be ceramic inside and out. when I get that done it will be tunned.also doing air box mods at this time too.

is that an open airfilter, or just the k&n filter?
oem ecm, race ecm, or is it remapped?

think you're a couple of ponies short [smirk], you should atleast be above 95hp

dans03firebolt
02-29-2008, 02:24 PM
Absolutel unless you have a 9 like me than you should be about the 82hp range. If you are on a 12 you should be much higher than that. Good luck on getting your bike set up to your liking.

well, hard to say...i don't know how things are done at your side.
but over here, when they say they can do something, they can do it. [smirk] ok, some might do it better than others and can get that bit extra out of the bike, but all can atleast tune so it runs smooth.

maybe organize a trackday for twins with a rentable dyno and someone who can tune bikes like vtwingearhead [confused]
charge a sum so you can rent the track, tech, dyno, tire replacement and such...

otherwise i would look for a decent dealer in your neighbourhood that can do what he promises.

LeFox

don't ride with the jardine & stock ecm for too long, cause you'll be running lean.

maybe you could contact someone from asb? maybe they know where you can do it in your neighbourhood? [confused]

lefox I have not yet opened my air box up yet going to try and get that done this week. also started my new exhausti'm two bends short so have them orderd. I will post pics when I'm done then going to have it tuned!!I have scoped the Micron out and making one close to it. and it will be coated inside and out.

about 250 (http://en.freespirits.it/catalog/popimg.php?img=http://www.freespirits.it/catalog/uploads/45_207720.jpg&title=Buell XB12 torque kit) ;)

will reduce top speed, though.

dans03firebolt
03-06-2008, 12:35 PM
Yeah like these bikes are made for top speed anyway. No one really needs to go over 130mph on a bike anyway unless you are on a private closed track.

whitezombiebueller
03-06-2008, 12:49 PM
Well unless you want to go that fast in the 1\4 mile. But i guess that is a private track.I have good news. There is two shops fighting for my business. So now i guess the race is for them to get the tunner. They both told me that they would buy the tunner and i will only have to pay for the tunning and dyno time....

I can't wait this thing is a beast with just the pipe on.I was told by some of the upper class HD tunners that the bike isn't running lean enough to cause damage.Well after they told me that i went for a ride and.OMG the ass dyno is reading off the charts.O and with all my 150 pounds of ass i still can't keep the front end from coming up in second yes i did say second. It comes up about 2-3feet high each time i nail it. :D:D

just got thru with the beather box and the vent by pass. it's little smoother at idel. but the real power comes on @ 2grand now I guess with the exhaust it really wanted more air opening the air box up made a world of dif. 1st and 2nd @ 2000 rpms it will float the tire with no problem going to have it tuned this coming week, if I can find a good place to do it!!!!!!!
