I have a very clean 2004 firebolt XB12R, the bike is very well mantained, mechanicaly sound, and runs excellent. the mods include: race ecm, drummer exhaust, fully wrapped headers, 1" drop foot pegs(i have stock as well), zero gravity windshield(have original too), frame pucks, and full service manual. the bike looks great, most people dont think its more then a year old, i get complements every time i take it out. im looking for a nice 1125cr , cash will depend on overall condition and miles and such, but im able to give as much as $2000 in addition to my bike. in summery you get a sweet bike and some cash in your pocket and i get a 1125cr... win win!

Wow! You might regret doing that. Good luck, I have a feeling you will find a taker. I have heard of people wishing they had never traded up to an 1125. It goes both ways, so now that we are on the topic, has anyone ever traded up from a firebolt to an 1125 and regreted it? Even a little?

I bought an 1125 and sold my firebolt. I have not regretted it at all. I love my CR.

I traded up for a 1125R. The 1125 is everything the xb needed, the power of the 1125 is awesome! I have had less problems with my 1125 than I had with the xb, so far 4200 trouble free miles. The only thing I miss about my xb is the sound.

I happen to have both, Been riding the 1125r mostly lately.
I took out the Firebolt last Thursday and Friday. While I did miss the power. I would disagree with some and say that to me the Bolt feels lighter, smaller and handles better in the twisties. The low end grunt works better for 'normal commute' riding and I really enjoyed riding 'old school'. I think the longer wheelbase hurt the 1125s but that's probably just me.
I don't ride on the track and for the street, I think the XB's have a much more usable(legal) powerband.

However I did find out how heavy the shifter was.(and I never noticed it before)

The other side of the coin also is if Erik starts building bikes again, it wont be the XB. The 1125 will see life again and thats good for parts, tech support, ect.

Poppin, I have to agree with you on the feel of the firebolt. Its amazing what 2.1 inches will do to the feel of a motorcycle. It did feel lighter and more flickable. I felt more in control on my bolt but I am sure I will get there on my 1125.

I just recently bought a CR and sold my XB12s. I wouldn't call it regret....but I wish I hadn't sold my 12s. The CR just doesn't fit my needs well right now as I do mostly in town commuting. The CR sure is one hell of a bike though.

I traded up to the 1125 from a 9R... originally regretted the sound loss, but got an FMF pipe and it now sounds better than the XB (IMHO) love the power, love the speed, and most of all I love the fact that when I am in 5th gear and near the red line...I still have 6th gear :)

After riding the 1125, I switched back to the XB9R occasionally and was constantly hitting the 7200 redline and having the rev limiter make that God aweful sound. I eventually ended up only driving the 1125 so much that I sold the bolt

Does anyone else have a story of regret from trading down to an 1125r from a XB12R? Remember be honest. We are your buell bretheren and know its a difficult topic. Dig deep into heart and let it all out. It is true that there might be a revival of the 1125r's but the 12r's and older will be the only real collectors bikes. I really dont see Eric being able to reproduce either but if he was able to do one I dont think it will be the one with a harley motor. Also when i said "traded down" I did not mean it in a bad way. I was speaking of the handling/aggressiveness and the point that its know as the best off track every day bike on the planet. We already came to the understanding that top speed does not mean anything in real every day riding. You can easly get speeding tickets with an XB12r. Plus its already been proved that the shorter XB12R beat all longer bikes on the planet in handeling. I would love to own both, 12r for every day, and 1125 for the track. One point I would like to make. I am planning on owning my buell for life. That means i will be fixing it for life. I will also have to completely rebuild the motor at some point. I honestly could never see myself as being able to take on rebuilding something as complex as the 1125. Have you who own the 1125's considerd this?

You should just sell the 12r to me, and take that cash with $2k extra to buy an 1125 :p

I know this thread is well beyond dead haha. I would love to have a CR, but I'd definitely miss that sound, and wish it looked more like a lightning. I'd be much more likely to buy one if the tail was a direct swap but I know there's a ton of work involved.

I'm gonna work extra hard this summer in hopes of picking up an 1125cr in winter while keeping the XB12RSs........OTOH if someone chucked an 1125 at me with an offer, I would probably let the XB go.........maybe......
