my question i am posing here is do you consider your self in the family of hd because you own an hd owned bike. Do you wear hd gear? Do you have a name for your bike? i am posing this because i want to know if i need to buy a new jacket abnd helmet. I previously owned an 09 1200 N bought a hd jacket and helmet then had a ton i mean a TON of probs with my nightster and so i picked my cr aka Ginger!! shes sexy so i call her ginger!! Buell is produced as buell but owned by hd?? im interested in seeing your thoughts and respones...

That're not owned by HD anymore. You'll find that most people here hate HD, and would give you a friendly jeckle if they saw you wearing the gear. It kind of fits though, so if you already have the gear, wear it. The biggest difference I can think of is that most people with a Harley have a leather jacket and half of a helmet while the Buell is more suited to a sportier jacket and full face helmet. If you have the first option I'd look into something more protective for your own sake.

I own a harley jacket, because i used to take pride in the being part of harley, however that has very much not become the case! I also have a harley jacket because im very good friends with the GM of a HD stealership and got a good price on a jacket. I still wear my harley jacket because i cant justify sinking money into new gear when the gear i have is in great shape.

yes, most people here would give you a friendly heckling about the HD gear. many of us are bitter that HD closed its doors on Buell, and dont exactly support the name. My first bike was a Buell, and I got all into the Buell clothing. After I sold it I was stuck with all this Buell Clothing and gear (which I kept) but my next bike was a Ducati...Realized it looked a little off to wear Buell gear on a Duc, so I bought a generic Jacket (black+ Gray Cortech) that would go with pretty much anything I ride. luckily I still had all my old Buell Gear because I have had 2 other Buells over the last couple years and they still get worn.

oh and I havent thought of a name for my baby I am too busy riding her.

I wear Harley Gear. Hate them or love them, My XB still has a Harley motor in it.

I personally love Harleys. Just don't like their new stuff.

agfish18 I named her ginger because i had my shock off in cali to have it compressed to lower the cr for 3 weeks in the summer so i daydreamed about riding and my new cr all day long. i love riding not standing and looking at the bike. thats my response to" I havent thought of a name for my baby I am too busy riding her." i dont mean anything by my response i am commenting( dont want you to think i am being an ass)

I would never wear H-D gear because I am not a lemming and am not a fan of 'branding'
if someone were to give me a Sportster or whatever re-incarnation of the latest, greatest offering from H-D, I would not even ride it, I would sell that **** in a heartbeat and buy myself another Buell or a ricer to beat on..

as well I take pride in being the red headed step child in the H-D line...
Aside from making good bikes once upon a time, all H-D does is sell over priced, under performing **** with a plethora of stupid accessories to make you look like a dumb ass Capt Morgan reject or the poster boy (girl) for any and everything H-D (make sure you have the H-D Zippo cover to match your belt buckle)

the H-D owners with all the gear who spend their time making sure all the chrome is shiney so that when they cruise from one spot to another to discuss bandana choice for the day they all look alike are the biggest joke on the road to me but to each their own!

Love my XB and all Buells and am thankful that Erik had a vision...
:D

most here know my bike is 'BamBam'

BuellDR. I appologize if you thought I was coming off that way. I didnt mean to say that you just stared at yours...I know that we, as Buell Riders, love to ride. We love that adventure that Buells give us, that sense of freedom that any bike gives us. I was more just trying to say that I literally am always driving mine and really just didnt have time to think of a crafty name... if I did, I would probably name it after a porn star as most of the time I ride her hard and put her away wet. I dont watch enough porn to remember any of their names, but I will think of one.

so, again, I appologize if I came off like a jack ass. It was not my intent.

i have a hd helmet which is essentially an HJC helmet with an hd sticker on it (the tag inside gave them away) cost $300, i needed it to ride the bike home from waterford, mi. i have a speed and strength, "under the radar" jacket and couldn't be happier. the girlie has the icon street angel helmet and jacket set, my bikes name is Ellen, like Ellen-ven-twenty-five-R :D[up]

no hd gear for me...

not so much because of the name, although it is part, but mostly because their gear isn't safe at all, especially on a sportbike.
that, plus the price for the name!

except for tshirts, hoodies, sweaters and caps, all my bike gear are from specialized motorclothing brands.

i got a name, but the meaning is totally lost in the translation :o

I just call mine "the beast" and now that I have my Hawk back on it lives up to its name.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bambam and Buddah. bamBam lives up to his name as well.

I wear a harley helmet and jacket. I went elsewhere the morning I bought my buell looking for a jacket and helmet I liked. I couldn't find ****. I tried on a jacket at the hd dealership and it fit like a glove. I also purchased a set of hd gloves. They also fit like a glove, more or less.
I'd love to get some real sport riding gear but I'm wearing this stuff until I'm 100% debt free next year, house included. Then I'll get what I want.

i have a Joe rocket ballistic jacket and matching gloves. i am ordering an arai profile sinister helmet here in the next few days. i do not own any HD gear but my dad is an old time Harley rider. he does not like there new stuff though and he rides for the joy of it just like most of us do. still rolling with his 1970 FLH full dresser. as for names im leaning towards amber or Elizabeth"Lizzy" but she has yet to develop her personality im sure this winter she will come into her own. as for the name there is no symbolism to it

I still wear my harley jacket because i cant justify sinking money into new gear when the gear i have is in great shape. Me too. Got it @ 70% off, it's quality, Perforated Leather with CE armour & works like a champ for commuting - no need to change just because corporate HD has no brain.

I like to peal the stickers off almost anything I have. I have buell stickers on my black and decker lawn mower, I removed the badges off my truck and have glock stickers on that and i have Harley Davidson on my Buells air box. that may make me a douche on this, my beloved forum, but I have worse problems in my life.

I don't wear anything with logos aside from T-shirts. When I purchased a bunch of gear last year, I took a seam ripper to my jackets and removed as many emblems as I could.

My wife decided to name my bike Mule. Buell the Mule. :)

I own an '09 FLHT Electra Glide Standard, with the detachable tour pack. It has been a great bike, it gets the wife and I where we need to go. It's nickname is "Garbage Scow". Why, because it handles and performs like one. I also own an '07 Lightning, it takes motorcycling to a whole nother level. It's nickname is "Mule", because it gets my fat ass where I need to go. I own more Buell stuff than Harely stuff, 'caues it stands out in a crowd. Can't stand sheeple and have worked my whole life not to be one.

All my gear has it's respective brand name on it
Icon

tour master
Held
Knox

You get the point
I just dint have a good enough reason to buy protective apparel that matches my bike when I plan on buying another bike in the future and it may or may not be another Buell. I have lots of Buell shirts patches and some stickers but IMO they cost less and I can still where them after I buy any other bike (because I'm still keeping the Buell)

I have owned many bikes including Harleys and Buells. I like any motorcycle. I buy what fits as comfort is everything to me. I also stick with black it looks good with any style bike. I have Harely boots and will buy them again as the Icons and others in my closet feel heavy and dont fit me well. Im not happy Harley decided to let Buell go but I will have another Harley touring bike next year, had to sell the last one due to layoff. Had Harley not let Buell go I couldnt have afforded my 1125 so sad and happy at the same time.

If I had a harley I would name it "Crappy over priced turd under perfomance over rated mullet magnet. I named my XB12R "Sexy Beast".

Im not mad at Harley for droping buell. Im glade they did, cuz now I own a rare bike. I dont like harley cuz they represent every other american compainy that is run like walmart. There corporate overhead is destroying the compainy and the product. I have no respect for them at all. Every jap bike compainy has passion for there product. I wish harley did, but they dont. If harley would make cuts from the top instead of the bottom the compainy would do much better, plus they could lower the price so real people can afford to buy one. They continue to charge more each year for the same products from the 1950's. Just because they slap a new name on a bike does not make it perform better. You should be able to sell a product cheaper each year if there was no product development. Most of there bikes and motors are old tech, yet they act like they are selling the latest new tech. Chrome is not a new technoligy. for those of you with harleys im not bashing your bikes im saying you got ripped off. I bought my buell for $6000 almost new. Thats what it should have costed the whole time.

Buy and wear whatever fits and is comfortable. Between riding a cruiser (HD), sport bike (Buell) and Dual sport (Suzuki), I have gear from pretty much any brand you can name.

The biggest thing is to make sure you like it and its comfortable. I find stuff that does not fit well and is uncomfortable often is not worn.

I was able to pick up some Buell logo gear. The Buell Mesh Jacket has HD buttons and zippers...sigh. I have the HD t-shirt the stealership made me take. I'll use it to polish my Aunt's silverware. Is it true HD chrome flakes over 50 mph? [confused]
