I'm buying a 99 X1, currently riding a 07 XBcityX. What are the major differences in handling and performance?

I would think your X1 is gonna feel a bit bigger. They don't have that super short wheelbase like the XBs do. You're also upgrading to the 1203cc motor, so that's good stuff. [up]

I'd love to get me an S1 someday. You keeping your XB as well??

Yes,the XB is a great bike. I may convert it to a track bike at some point.

cant to get myself a X1 !(hopefully a millinum edition X1 )! the tubers are the first BUELLs that i ever seen and heard, and what got me into Buells in the first place. the tubers have a cool old school mean and fast & agressive unique look to them , as compared to the modern sleek fast unique XB's. thats why I love them both.
I wish there was more tubers on here(or maybe I'm just not aware of it) , wish more would post pics of their tubers. any pics of the X1 your buying ??

my seat is a buell select or pro seat.. dont exactly remember what its call. I believe they have not made them from some time. I see them used from time to time, i ended up lucking out and buying mine brand new from ebay. Its much more comfy then the factory seat.

My X1 has a stock can that the previous owner took apart and reworked.I have a break in the weld around the intake pipe into the muffler. I think I will have it tig welded because I like the sound of it. Has any one else done this?

aaronbuell

I had my Buell pro muffler break in the same spot had it tiged. Just be careful the guy that did mine heated it up alittle to much and shrunk the inlet it took alittle messing with but it fit fine and work well for a year and a half until I got my D&D.

my best friend has a yellow X1, and i ride a 03 9R, we've switched bikes multiple times, his X1 pulls harder than my bolt, but overall his bike hasent been the most reliable (it leaked sooo much oil! he was adding at least a qt per week) he's rebuilding the whole thing this winter basically

Nice bike, JerryC! I've seen Pur Pony's photos, too. *drool*

Hey maybe you guys can answer a Q for me:
The stock x1's come with bilateral scoops right beneath the tank on each side, correct?
Most people seem to take them off, though I've seen some who leave them. I like both ways, to be honest.

Are those scoops functional? Why do people take them off--aesthetics?

Buell X1 custom seat. It came in six different piping colors with part numbers for each. The parts book states beefed up passenger area and embroidered pegasus logo.

Mine runs fine without the scoops, and I think it looks a lot better.

jerry your bike is sweet i love the tubers! but they always seem smaller than the xbs and the 1125s, id feel like a bear on a tricycle lol i love the carbon fiber though any plans for the bike in the future? list of mods?

Jerry C
01-28-2011, 03:36 PM
The X1 seems bigger to me I also have a XB9CityX. The only mods so far Are a pair of adjustable levers from CRG and the clutchlite xx-soft clutch ramp. These really improved the feel of my clutch.
