Check Engine Light

Got my bike out for the 2nd time this year. First time was to run it a bit before changing the oil (warm up) After changing the oil on my second ride the engine light came on. Now...the oil was slightly overfilled ( which is fixed now ) and my new l.e.d. plate lights have stopped working. [confused] Basically the lights are fried...but no fuses have been blown. I wired the lights to the old existing wires from the stock plate light. It worked over the winter now it doesnt. So I disconnected the lights and covered the exposed ends of the stock wires till I figure out what to do.

What would cause my check engine light to come on? The oil being slightly overfilled for a few miles? ( I thouht the oil light would come on in that case ) The l.e.d's being fried? The stock plate wires having power but nothing connected to them? Im lost on this one. Any input or suggestions would be great [smirk]

not the oil...
most likely there's a connection between the leds and the check engine light.
possible a short somewhere...during the winter you weren't riding the bike, so could be a combo vibration and bad connection ?!?

Thats what I was thinking...now how to fix it. Do I cap off the hot wires and disconnect the battery to reset the light? Try it and see if it pops back on?

Well I D/C the battery for an hour or so. I havent been able to ride yet, today its raining and frikin cold. We'll see tomorrow [up]

Maybe mice? I have cough a few in my Mustang which shares a garage with my Lighting. I have seen mouse poop around my bike, however no chewed through wires yet...

The verdict is in....bad Emulator. [mad] Less than 2500 miles and my servo emulator quit working. I guess they can go bad, it is just a sensor, but I figured it would last longer than it did. [sad] Oh well, I have an excuse to buy a new ECM and airbox kit now. [up]
