Factory or aftermarket RSS (Right Side Scoop) helps a lot. Also aftermarket thermal blankets or barriers for under the seat. LOTS of threads on here talking about both.

Don't remember who but one of the exhaust companies makes a heat barrier that goes under the seat which should help too!http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/4087_20100722113231_L.jpg

Can those heat shields also trap heat on the engine? Just curious?

I wrapped my headers, that helps.

Don't ride through town, seriously.

It's an air cooled engine. The heat goes out to atmo. If your leg is there, it gets heated first.

It's just science working against you. Read enough posts and you'll read people complaining about the heat even after all the above techniques.

I wear overpants (Adventure pants) over jeans. I notice the heat but it's not unbearable. I get out of town and up to highway speeds as fast as I can.
