WTB: Belt Guard

Last season I removed my belt guard(actually, cut it off) and my belt broke and was told it was NOT because a rock got in between the pulley and the belt. These damn belts are too expensive to risk it.

So, who has one they want to get rid of? I've got a 2003.

the 03 belt will break wether or not teh guards are on.

I have stock belt guards off of 03 lightning I can part with I guess. What was the cause that belt broke?

03 have belt problems.i have over 12000 miles on an 09 with no guards and no problems.

I heard about it but I have 03 no guards at around 9k mls no problem either. Belt is stock and shows no wear. I think it depends on bike.

maybe yours has already been changed to the newer setup?

I wouldn't think so but it could have been done. I emailed hd asking if I need any recalls done and they said my bike didn't have any done and doesn't need any. I don't think it was a recall though.

The guy at my shop said I may have stressed the belt when I went into a turn too hot and did some off-roading.(Roughly 2 months before the belt broke) I just put the new belt on, I guess I need the reassurance that this isn't going to happen again.

riding in the rain will weaken your belt if you have fibers exposed.
MAGIC from the picture in your profile I think you still have a stock '03 setup

I have stock '03 belt guards I can definitely part with.
