I totaled my 2007 XB9City and bought it back from the ins. co. I'm having it re-built into a track bike. I've joined NESBA and intend to make some track days this year at Virginia International Raceway. Are there any other track day Buellers out there?

I just got my bike last year, but I do plan on taking it to a track day eventually.

I've tracked my M3 twice in Colorado and hopefully I'll get to track it at VIR this year.

Where are you located?

I ran my XB12R at VIR a few years ago. South course, it was a blast! I was the slowest bike out there on the long straight........it's a long drive from Vermont! Summit Point main is fun too (pavement is rough though!).

I'm in Richmond VA. VIR has a smooth track surface. I've never been on the track at Summit Point, but I think that long strait would be fun!I bought an old GS750 to build a vintage race bike, but since I now have my XB on its way to becoming a track bike the Suzuki may be up for sale.

Havnt really gotten around to one of those yet. Buellxb.com broke my forum cherry. Although I was a Bimmer car guy before a Buell guy.

Jerry how much did you pay to get your bike back from he ins. co? I've been wanting to find a totaled 1125 for a track bike.

Jerry C

Builtdesign, They gave 4K for the book value of the bike. I gave them 1K back for my XB,so now I have a little money for the conversion!!!

I was too a bimmer guy before buells. I used to track/time attack a e36 m3. Now I'm consdering tracking the buell or building another one for track use. Looks like I won't be alone in the vir/summit area if I do build one.

Shaggy, how does the your XB handle on the track?

shaggy
04-10-2011, 06:57 AM
Stortz damper, Pensky on the rear, PP2's and GMD (http://computra.startlogic.com/about.htm) did the front end. It is like ridding on rails!

how do you like the NESBA instructors/coaches? they seem to be a lil more expensive than TPM ...

Jerry C
06-19-2011, 03:40 AM
The control riders are very good, they will give on track hand siginals if they see you need help. I had an issue with my foot position, should have been on the balls of my feet. And if you ask them they will watch you on track and give great feedback when the session is over. I think I want to put a firebolt fairing on my lighting with a double bubble wind screen so I can get out of the wind on the strait.

nilla
06-19-2011, 03:55 AM
might as well go with an 1125 bracket and fairing if you wanna get outta teh wind. you could do teh headlights too and run it on teh street if you wanna confuse the hell outta people :)

Jerry C
06-19-2011, 04:59 AM
Will the 1125 bracket and fairing work on the XB?

nilla
06-19-2011, 10:14 AM
it looks like they all (XB_S/R and 1125) have/use the same mounting point infront of the steering neck. i'd put money on it that 'yes, the 1125R fairing bracket is interchangeable'

Jerry C
06-21-2011, 03:00 PM
Cool!I getting a Firebolt tail section complete $250.

How hard is it to prepare a bike for the track? I live in Virginia Beach and I am interested in track.

vaxb12r
03-15-2012, 07:24 PM
Soon as I get my bike finished I will be heading out there. I havent been on track for 2 years so I have to take the class again but I never complain about learning. is a two piece suit good for track days there? My one piece died with my cbr.

Jerry C
03-16-2012, 04:09 PM
Its not too hard to prepare for B (Beginer) class, basicly bike in good repair, tires, brakes, tape over or remove lights, remove mirrors. There are plenty of fast people in B, Go to the NESBA website and download the manual it should answer any questions you have. I've only done two track days so far but I have learned a lot. It is the most fun you can legally have on a bike.

Crescent1101
03-17-2012, 07:18 PM
You don't have to wire tire all your bolts and stuff like that? Do you need race compound tires?

Jerry C
03-18-2012, 05:14 AM
Not in B group, down load the manual from nesba. The bike has to be in good repair.I run Michelin Power Pures, and have my oil drain and fill plugs as well as oil filter safety wired.

Crescent1101
03-18-2012, 10:47 AM
I may be interested now. I would need help doing the safety wires though. I am running the Michelin Ct 2s.

Jerry C
03-31-2012, 05:36 AM
Cresent, I live near Richmond, If you ever get up this way I can help you with safety wiring. It is super easy when you see how it is done.
Nilla, we are heading to VIR Friday the 6th, and coming back the 7th or 8th.

I pass Richmond all the time. I am trying to sell my Mustang so I can get a truck and trailer. I just sold my other bike to help with the funds. Just one thing left.

I just recently went to Reg Pridmores CLASS track day at Streets of Willow in Rosemond, CA. Awesome track day with instructors that really want to help you be smooth on the track and off the track. Highly recomended. They are having a track day at laguna Seca this year. I will be attending.

nilla
04-02-2012, 05:54 PM
Jerry, who are you doing track days with? i signed up with TPM again this year.

19, if i lived on the west coast ... there would be alot of things i'd do.

Not up there with you Va and WV guys but some day I will get there. My 1125 and I haven't missed a track day at PBIR (Palm Beach International Raceway) and HMS (Homestead Miami Speedway) since Sept. 2011. Hooked bad. Prepare to start selling blood for tires and entrance fees.

I've done track days with TPM and Motorcyclexcitement. But I mostly race. I'll be at Summit Point next weekend.

I like to think I'll have the fastest Buell there. Unfortunately, it'll have the slowest rider onboard.

Jerry C
06-23-2012, 11:30 AM
Bossanova, thats a good looking track bike!
Tony216,what class do you race in?

Tony216
06-23-2012, 07:35 PM
I race in Thunderbike with CCS, and occasionally Supertwins. Next year, I'll be able to add LW Formula 40 (I'm 39). If you're at stock displacement for an XB12, you can add LWSS, LWSB, LWGP and GTL with CCS. WERA isn't as Buell friendly.

Jerry C
06-23-2012, 08:30 PM
Cool, after I get a few more track days under my belt, I want to at least try racing. How hard is to get a race license for CCS?

Tony216
06-24-2012, 06:43 AM
It's easy. Take an approved race school and pay $110 for the license. A lot of track day providers run CCS approved race schools.

It's really easy to get involved in amateur racing. Hell, they let me in so how selective can they be. :)

Jerry C
