I Have a 05 xb9r with a Jardine and Race maps. I want to put in a high performance filter. I am was wondering which filter you guys think is better. I can still get the Buell pro-series race filter from a dealer. Would that be better than a K & N? The Buell filter is washable and does not require oil.

The part number on the Buell filter is 29388-02YB. Does anyone have this filter?

If you are talking about the air filter that came with the race exhausts, it is a K&N. Otherwise, go K&N. haha

As far as I understand it was diffrent for a few years. The buell filter did not use oil.

I have a Hawk muffler, Race ECM and used both filters... K&N and pro series filter. I did not recognized any difference except the K&N is less noisy... having the air box modi done by almost eliminating it. I believe the K&N is the better as there are instruction to maintain it, with the Buell pro no MNT instruction came. On the other side the filter elements look very very similar so its likely that both come from the same Chinese supplier.

I have the Buell Pro Series filter, no oiling needed. It was cheaper than the K&N so I bought it. No issues at all.

Thanks, I think I will go with whatever one I can get the cheapest.

They will both work just fine. K&N is a tighter weave oil based filter(a little quieter) the pro does the job as well.
