hey, im just wondering... will a buell race pipe have much effect on a xb9 without a race ECM? im thinking about buying the pipe, but will it really be noticeable without things like the ECM, K&N filter & new header? thank you.

if you can find one, it will be of no use without ecm & airfilter.

new header is not needed.

You can't buy them new anymore and because of that used ones usually go for $350+. Check out americansportbike.com for a complete test of all the exhaust for the XB.

i have a connection... ;), no i just know someone with one. so i would need an EMC & air filter. like most, my bike has plenty of power... i just wanted a little deeper sound, thats why i was thinking about buying his race pipe. thanks

Seems many are hunting down these old pipes!?
I had the race kit but i did not like it as much as i thought i would do. I would suggest a Tiforce, Micron or even Termignoni instead. They are better performance wise. They also work with the race ecm and open airbox arrangement. Or (original ecm and) Tfi techlusion 1045 or Remus powerizer and open airbox arrangement.
If i went for the original race pipe i would try a larger diameter header to get more torque.
