i know it's a bit early but i'll be in MD for two weeks beginning in July. My wonderful wife has offered to trailer the bike out there from TX so I can ride while I'm on RnR. I'd like to get some forum members together for a meet and greet and ride? I have a wedding that will occupy July 8th-9th and recovery on the 10th. but it looks like Saturday the 16th would be a good day? I'm from PG County but would be open to meet in a location central to every one. If you guys are down lets start seeing who would be interested and where everyone is so we can pick a place to meet.

That's my 3 day weekend, I'll head up that way for a ride. Don't know that much about Md but I figure you will probably head west into the VA mountians and I have yet to explore the northern part of my home state. So ya I'm up for it! Raz

You would be correct. thinking Shenandoah? through some mountain passes past the falls? probably plan on putting in some miles for sure. My thought would be a 08:30 Meet and Eat for breakfast hit the road as soon as we can and put down some miles. as it come closer and I get more input from others I'll start planning a route. I'd like to knock out at least 300 miles or more. If guys aren't down for such a long ride I have no problem adjusting. Would be great to get as many forum members together for some pics and some good riding.

where are you from raz?

I'm located in Lynchbugr VA, about 3 hrs from DC,2.5 to Harrisonburg VA. I already have a few streams up in that area picked out that I have not fished yet. Does not matter where we meet up as I will probably pick a campground in relation to where we meet up. Who knows, I may even splurge and get a room. Raz

Let me get this straight. Your wife is going to trailer the bike from TX to the DMV in July? I can't imagine what the fuel cost are going to be to trailer your bike. Have you thought about renting a bike it might save you money? Below is a link for Eagle Rider located in Chantilly VA.

We can ride out Route 211 from Warrenton to Shenandoah to the Blue ridge. That is a nice ride with some twisties.

SHHHHHHHHHH this is just the excuse I needed to buy a trailer lol. But seriously I pulled the bike home after I bought her in MD and i had a 5x8 uhaul trailer pulled by my pt cruiser. no problems the gas sucked through the smokies and until the earth flattened out through tennessee but after that it was fine. I'll check out that rental place though it might be worth it.

We'll see if my bike is done by then ill be down to hang out/ ride, we can have a cook out after either way I have horseshoes grill and plenty of parking spaces and downtown leesburg within walking distance.

You have some time Oh9 [up]

ArmyMP09
04-11-2011, 02:01 AM
Yeah I don't ride on 95 at all.. F that mess. I ride 66 and dullas tollroad a lot which is easy. Fastest way to get to bolts house for me is 66 and then dullas tollroad, which sucks, but it doesn't work during rush hours. Plus bolts place is a short distance from good back roads and the mountains so.

I live north of Baltimore. I may be able to make a July run. VA mountain routes are lotsa fun...Rte 33, 250, & 11. :)

Traffic around us sucks a fat one and people with no clue how to drive without texting or emailing while driving, it is probably the worst of any place ive ever lived

Nuage420b
04-11-2011, 11:39 PM
LoL it's just so natural to be drive aggressively back home. I think nothing of it til I come back to Tx after visiting home and EVERYONE is courteous the slower traffic drifts to the right. on two lane back roads people will pull over to the shoulder let you pass by and smile and wave as you do so. people actually get into a you got i go you go i go merging pattern when there is build up at an exit. it truly blows my mind. The ironic thing is. TX highway speed limits even through more populated areas are usually 75-80mph. yet the beltway with 55mph limits the average speed is between 90-100mph. . .with a thousand times more traffic.

ArmyMP09
04-12-2011, 05:31 AM
Yeah its funny to travel the country driving places. I've driven through half the country and its amazing how the driving styles changed from one area to another. Plus west coast and down south people actually watch for bikes, not around dmv though. Esp not in NOVA. Anyways I'll be home in 2 weeks so I'll do some route recon to plan a route if that's good be everyone else?

oh9bolt
04-12-2011, 07:33 AM
Sounds good! You can do like we were doing before my accident and go on mapquest pick out some roads then go ride them each weekend there is a new person in rotation to pick out where we are riding all the roads out towards winchester are amazing. I will hold up the back of the pack this year no wrecks for me.

ArmyMP09
04-13-2011, 07:40 AM
Yeah we can do that, but I also want to recon the roads as well, so we don't get any hidden surprises while on the bikes.

Nuage420b
04-13-2011, 07:57 AM
Awesome, I appreciate all the help guys. [up]

Nuage420b
04-13-2011, 08:07 AM
If we can keep it in a bit of a loop 200 or so miles twisty and scenic.

oh9bolt
04-13-2011, 09:30 AM
That's why I'm saying go ride it after you find it on mapquest I'm making a gps mount also for the stem nut so I can bring gps with me on rides for mph and gas stations and 160 mph top speed pulls

Nuage420b
04-13-2011, 10:17 AM
From what I see on mpaquest it looks like we can skirt the potomac river quite a bit out towards leesburg? MP09 you're in meade right?

ArmyMP09
04-13-2011, 12:10 PM
Nah, reserves, live in arlington va.. But I'm at meade a lot. Or I will be once I get back from this deployment. Did I mention kanadhar air field sucks. Anyways I can meet u around meade area and then from there ride to meet everyone else. Also let me know what route ur looking at as I'll preplan a route for everything with stops and so on if that's what everyonewants?

oh9bolt
04-13-2011, 12:32 PM
We can always ride what we have rode before lime kiln 50 and the infamous blueridge mountain road

Nuage420b
04-13-2011, 12:50 PM
Actually it's easier/quicker for me to swing around southeast/southwest DC to arlington than it is to go up to meade. ok so it seems like VA around the NW border of DC would be a good meet up. MP yea I'm down to swing through arlington and link up. Maybe around where 495 and Leesburg Pike meet up? find some good roads along the potomac from there?

gater
04-13-2011, 05:44 PM
Fauquier, Rappahannock and Warren County are a good place to ride. Not a lot of traffic. If you are going to run from 495 up 7 towards Leesburgh the traffic stinks. Go 66 west Haymarket to 55 west towards Front Royal. Or even better 66 west to 29 south to Warrenton to 211 west to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Nuage420b
04-13-2011, 10:11 PM
I'd be the only one heading up 495. and thatd only be to arlington to link up with MP and head to the meet up. And honestly i'd risk the suitland parkway and 295/395 at that point. Early on a Saturday morning shouldn't be bad. I worked in Clarendon and it would only take me 20 minutes to get to work on a saturday.

ArmyMP09
04-13-2011, 11:49 PM
Well we need to figure out if we want to ride the mountains and west towards the blue ridge or ride north west along the Potomac river then hook down towards bolt's house for a bbq if his offer still stands. I'll be glad to plot a route either way, but trying to make sure the route is awesome and everyone has their input into it. I've found some great farmland country roads that ride along the potomac river before but I'd have to re plot the routes again, the ran from dc north west along the river to near point of rocks, MD. Then back down to leesburg where bolt lives. It'd only be half a day ride, but we can use that for a am route then stop for lunch then go to the mountains in the afternoon. If everyone likes that idea?

Nuage420b
04-13-2011, 11:59 PM
That would work if we're gonna do a BBQ, that would leave me another half days ride back [up] how many miles? i'm down for mountains or river which ever will have the least traffic

ArmyMP09
04-14-2011, 12:34 AM
Well if we do the bbq maybe 100 miles or so on the backroads, if we don't then we can do 300ish. I know in july as hot as it will be 300 will start to suck at the end of the day if we don't stop and relax for a bit. Plus always hanging out with buellers and bbqing is a great time so we could do it that way. I like the mourning river ride, then mountains, then. A mid afternoon bbq, then ride back at dusk?

Nuage420b
04-14-2011, 01:14 AM

ArmyMP09
04-17-2011, 10:38 AM
I'm almost home less then 2 weeks and I'll be plotting the route. Been looking at a few roads on maps and have some good ideas in mind. This ride should be fun. Just want to get home and finish planning this.

ArmyMP09
04-17-2011, 08:51 PM
My skills are lacking in the handgun department, I carry one yes as a MP, but my m4 is my primary weapon. We'llk go I got ammo to burn when I come home. Long as the government stops taking away half my paycheck every 2 weeks.

04-18-2011, 10:16 AM
Meh... we should get some ar's so shooting at the range is more fun Bert and Dan have like 3 a piece its fun going with them because they have like a million guns. Next gun purchase I make will be a 12 gauge probably in a few years

Nuage, if I buy Pyrat's bolt then I'll sell my scg. Its a 08 with 1600miles on it and a ton of mods. I'm the original owner. I can't promise it won't hit 2k miles quickly though as I am going to be riding a lot when I get home. Send me a pm and we can discuss details. I'll be flying from Manas AFB to Ft. Dix so I maybe slow in responding for the next 48hrs.

ArmyMP09
04-24-2011, 01:35 AM
Bolt yes a m4 is on my list of toys to buy this summer! I got so many parts left over from my deployment. Army just gives away issued parts like pistol grips, mags, lights, rail systems.. Lol I got a bag full of m4 parts.

Nuage420b
04-24-2011, 02:07 AM
only 1600????? My 08S has 7000+ We'll wear down some more of that rubber in July.

ArmyMP09
04-24-2011, 02:39 AM
Yeah, I bought it in nov 09, didn't ride it all winter, then rode like 20times in the spring, got deployed in april. So I haven't barely seen it. No lie I've barely been home when I've owned it. So july we will wear down some rubber and add some miles onto it. Since u'll be in town u can check it out also if I buy pyrats bolt.

Nuage420b
04-24-2011, 02:58 AM
Sweet, I'm down for shorty rides throughout the week as well. If your work schedule allows. I'm getting pumped my clubmans will be installed when I get to ride again so it'll be a new experience again. You think I can get away without mirrors out there? I only have bar ends and don't really wanna buy new mirrors til i can afford the rizoma's that i want. I've never been hassled in TX about my mirrors and thats riding daily on and off post.

ArmyMP09
04-24-2011, 04:26 AM
I'll have to see my work schedule. I have the crossroads and crg mirrors. I never use them, and I'm sure u can get away with new mirrors long as ur head is on swivel in the dmv area. Too many stupid drivers.

Nuage420b
04-24-2011, 10:50 AM

****, I'm excited to finally ride my hometown. I grew up racing around in cagers all over the DMV. And i know how much I loved hugging turns and flying around then. I got my bike learned to ride it and olny got to runt he highways last tour on RnR. then I came abck and picked it up in january and it was snowing so i didn't ride then. I got to TX and have only been on 2 roads that come anywhere close to the types of twisty turny upy downy roads I'm used to traveling.

As far as your hand gun skills go, just apply the same basics you do for rifle man. i don't get to shoot pistol much either except the random free range days when they happen to issue us some 9mm rounds. but i've put at least 12,000 rounds through my M4 last year at all kinds of ranges. it's really all about the trigger pull for me. figure out if your pistol is a loli pop or if you need to put the dot on target and just apply the lessons the army taught you. I used a glock 19 at the last range i went to and at 25 meters I was only taking head shots, and i could choose forehead or mouth. at 50 meters i could get about 80% of my rounds on the silhouette. i took a few head shots but kept missing by a few inches. i think if i had the glock 17 i would of been able to bust that grape.

ArmyMP09
04-27-2011, 04:37 AM
Yeah I carry for my civilian job as well so I'm always armed. Just need to put rounds down range right now before I've got requal again. I miss shooting, I really do. Nothing like a good week at the range everyday shooting. I own a glock 17 same as I carry everyday, love it compared to the M9.
Anyways I'll make sure that the route is nice and twisty through some of the best roads in the DMV area.

Nice. This weekend is Bikes to the Beach if you're not doing anything. I fractured my thumb tuesday so I'm out of the rides but will be partying like it was my job...

As for the water, I haven't been in the water in like 7-8 years, I tend to go down to outer banks, lol.

It'll be good to see more Buellers, I know three down here but aren't on the forum.

We have all year to ride and make meets skyline is a good fall trip when the leaves are changing I've done it every year with a 350z forum for the past 5 or so years it is way better in the fall not the spring just my opinion I don't make the final say lol

Route has been reconned, lucky we did found a few bad spots and bad roads surfaces so we plotted a good route now. Pics and possibly a map will posted later. Nothing crazy, lots of good long turns, hills, through the rolling country sides of MD into VA. Big thanks to bolt for taking a ride with me to recon. We just need a head count of who's coming becuz of planning for the amount everyone will owe for the bbq or if we should go out to eat instead. So please post up if your planning on going!

where does the route start and end? i'm in southern Maryland

oh9bolt
05-03-2011, 11:50 AM
The ride will start at river road we will have to make a meeting spot at a gas station near there for people coming from Maryland. Here is the MAP (http://mapq.st/k21eQq) of the ride that we planned we went on a ride on it and it is pretty good nice scenery some curves nothing too crazy and we can make the ride longer if everyone is up for it but this is the initial ride stopping at my house after for food and drinks.

Nuage420b
05-03-2011, 11:51 AM
xfirex i will be leaving from upper marlboro, you can link up with me and we can scoot out over the woodrow and out towards ArmyMP. I would say meeting for a preride brunch would work best? get some pics in, store up some energy then hit a long hard ride? I'm down for a BBQ and will throw down on both but I know I don't wanna ride on an empty stomach.

ArmyMP09
05-03-2011, 11:58 AM
Nuage there is a IHOP a 3 miles from my place! Get some food, coffee, and then start the ride? Also this route only took 2 hrs in my sentra driving spirited. So we can gladly extented the route to some other local roads we ride. Just to make it a longer day. But we need to count the exact family members as well for the bbq if they come. I know my wife will be there with bolt's wife helping.

Nuage420b
05-03-2011, 12:35 PM
my wife will surely want to help as well. Ok so tenitively meeting at IHOP in arlington and let you guys lead the way. If we meet up around 0930-1000 and ride in the general direction of the BBQ? Surely extend the route, maybe another 50-60 miles I don't wanna wear anyone out but I know I've logged up to 300miles in a day and thats about where I start getting sore. Lets take the RSVPs a little closer to the ride date, **** happens and people will have things come up. but I'll have Myself, wife and two daughters, possibly my dog if that's cool? she kinda goes everywhere with us. Possibly my buddy his father and one or two other riders they're old farts on HD's and tons of fun. Getting real excited for this ride. Wife is gonna be butt hurt she can't ride along but this is gonna be daddy's fun day on RnR.

maybe my wife can swing over to the bay and grab crabs on her way to the BBQ?

oh9bolt
05-03-2011, 01:34 PM
Sounds good dogs are fine just a warning I have a anti social chocolate lab that I will either crate or we will just have to keep them separated. I agree about the rsvp's that is just a better way in case there is more or less people. There are plenty of roads out by me through the mountains we can just hop on the bikes and see where they take us. We have a couple other friends coming along as well so this is going to be a good amount of people it should be fun.

If I'm following along correctly: Meet at I-Hop in Arlington-head up 267 to Leesburg and back 190 to Bethesda. I'll be heading up Friday the 15th weather dependent-may leave Thursday-that will give me all day Fri to fish! Should be staying 3 or 4 nights. Any recommendations on camp grounds or hotels? Would Leesburg area be cheaper? Really looking forward to this trip. Any info would be greatly appreciated, I need to start my research. Razman:)

Thanks guys. Apparently you can dent your bone...(Had no idea) It doesn't hurt much just in certain positions. A friend of mine says it could be ligament damage so I'm trying to let it rest or heal...what ever needs to be done.

I'm really starting to look forward to this ride, I'm horrible at keeping dates but I'm sure this one will stick.

That is fantastic news Flaya, always wanted to see your bike in the flesh.

Razman, for the fishing and camping head to the mountains. Skyline Drive has tons of camping, and if i remember correctly some of the camp grounds have fishing ponds and what not. Harpers Ferry is pretty too.

I might be down for this!!! But just to reiterate, the ride's on July 16th and we're bascially riding 267 from Leesburg to Bethesda/495? Never been, but hopefully I'll be able to join.

oh9bolt
05-18-2011, 07:01 AM

Nuage420b

Also This doesn't have to be a buell only ride. if you have any riding buddies, preferably responsible ones that aren't going to endanger my life, that wanna join in the more the merrier. oh9 plans to host a BBQ i think? One that I will attend but will probably only be able to check out briefly as i over looked that fact that my old mans birthday is also on the 16th so I will probably end up riding from leesburg down to southern MD to celebrate with him.

ArmyMP09

its July 16th. Some of us are meeting for IHOP before the ride in Arlington at the IHOP off RT1. or everyone else is meeting up in MD at a gas station yet to be determined on River RD. Thats all I can remember right now. We'll be riding from the gas station along a few roads in MD and then to a possible BBQ at oh9bolt's house in leesburg.

GO FIGURE my leave dates got changed [mad][mad][mad]

I will not be able to make the july 16th meet any more [sad]

I will however be in town with bike from about the 4th of july until the 12-13th of july. Hopefully I can link up for a ride or two with y'all during that period. I am super bummed but just glad I was able to un**** my leave enough to make it to the wedding on the 9th. gotta love the Army cuz they don't love you!

ArmyMP09
05-25-2011, 06:31 AM
Sorry to your luck, they changed my leave within a month of me leaving and almost missed my wedding. We'll figure something out to have a ride, even if its short. Or if we can't do that, at least go get a beer somewhere. Army doesn't care about ur leave, all they care is u get ur 3 meals a day, maybe a bed, and your deploy able that's all. Haha, learned that on my deployment. Stay in touch and we'll figure it all out.

Nuage420b

whats wrong with them?

ArmyMP09
06-26-2011, 08:16 AM
took off parts from the xb12r to have put back on the lightning while its getting fixed to return it to stock form so I can sell it. Basically since the insurance company is paying to fix it, I'm using that as a excuse to turn it back to stock and put the performance parts on the xb12r.
But they needed the stock parts before they start the tear down on the lightning so. The new frame(old one was scratched when it got knocked over, so I had them replace it) is having my Vin stamped into it now at Harley so hopefully it'll all be done soon. I need to sell the lightning. LOL. I feel bad that the poor lightning which only has 1800miles on it, is being rebuild from the ground up. LOL. kinda sad actually all from being knocked over.

My bad! It's not the "solo" that's a different model. I got the single "G4" not the powerset.

If it wasn't going to be so hot this weekend I would say let's ride up to Lebanon PA and go see the 1190rs in person, maybe we can plan it for a upcoming weekend.
