I would guess that, being new, he has improved his aerodynamics thereby increasing his top speed; and his toe now has better traction, allowing faster shifts, improving acceleration. Overall, quite a performance improvement. :p

I've seen covers that go over the shift lever, and are supposed to prevent your shoe from getting dirty. I don't known how well they work, I don't really care that much about how my shoes look.

I say you need to put a led in so you can see where the lever is...

I bought a 2009 XB with the shifter knob broke off. I went to HD dealer and bought a Chrome and rubber knob. Much bigger than the XB one. I drilled a hole, threded the nuth through and put a shallow nut on the back. Looks so much better and really made shifting a breeze...and easier on the shoe.

Well apparently you guys may have missed mine. But my bike fell over the other day and it broke off so now I have an idea of what to do next. funny thing is I did this in a pinch about 3-4 years ago and just haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. Now I have to.
