I am having a little problem with my 03 XB9S I just got. When in Neutral, my shift into first makes a really loud clank... It does this every time I shift into first from a dead stop. My clutch is really hard to pull and starts to hurt the ol wrist after a while. I also noticed a leak where the clutch cable goes into the primary. I was hoping that changing the oil in the crank case would help...but it didn't. I also tried to tighten the cable where it enters the case. I guess I need to change the o-ring.
Can someone tell me what the problem is?
Thanks:(

could be that your cable is worn and is starting to snap.

when a few of the wires are already broken, the cable extends and thus never fully disengages. ;)

also makes it harder, because of higher resistance in cable jacket

Thank you for your response, I will get a new cable and see if that helps.
As usual, thank you LeFox for your help.

How loud are you talking? Buell gearbox is loud and clunky. When I shift mine down into first from a dead stop its loud enough to make the guy in the car next to me look (sorry only way I can explain :p). Perfectly normal. Any louder than that then yea you should check it up.

On the leak, as LeFox said, you should get that cable changed [cool].
