Is it true that buell plans to come out with a water cooled motor? I dont want to buy one then the next year they come out with a total redesign. I guess that will happen no mater what, but does anyone know of any major advancements in the neer future?

The things that are rumored to be in the makings is bigger engine, six speed transmission, and water cooled. None of these can be confirmed however. I will keep you guys posted :)

i like the sound of that.
How big? 1400cc?!?! Watch its like a 1205cc.

Would water cooled eliminate the fan you think?

They just gonna ad a gear above 5th? or redo all gears to make 6th where 5th is now. Thats what they did to the Harley 6-speed no?

i know just rumers. I want to buy. but not if its out dated the next year. i guess that is always how its gonna be with top of the line technology.

Why would they ditch the 9's. I have never heard anything like that. Wouldnt make sense at all. The 6th gear will probably be an overdrive gear. As far as the bigger engine only reall numbers I have heard was a 1340cc.

Buells are only air cooled, granted they do have an oil cooler but still only air cooled. Fans are on the back cylinder just due to the fact that it is buried back in the frame and cant get a lot of air flow. Just a precaution

Hmmm, does this mean it have some temp. issues?

Dow south in spain where i am its really hot,80% above 26ºC and in somer 2 month arround 45ºC...

Do you have to take more care on a Buell than on Japo bike?

The first impression i had is that it is a STRONG streetfightermthe las think i need/want is troubleshooting with this bike,i want something strong...

Kind regards,
GMAN

I live in AZ, as does BuellPartsGuy. The only time I ever have a temp issue with my scooter is on the freeway at rush hour, or in heavy traffic. Nothing major, it just coughs and sputters once in awhile. All Harleys will have to eventually go water cooled to meet the emissions standards comming in 2010. Even with FI, the bikes can't run cool enough to keep the Hydrocarbons down.

All I know is I contribute to this forum, rather then just picking apart other peoples posts....

I didn't pick anyones posts apart. I heard the same rumor I asked a friend that work in the engineer department at Buell about that. I'll tell ya what...lip's are locked and sealed. But he isn't letting the cat out of the bag by saying that rumor is wrong. Lets put this into one prospective. I'm 39 years old and I can insure whatever I want because its cheaper then a guy thats 20 or even 28 or 29. I can insure a GSXR 1000 about 278 a year and thats for a 2007. I pay currently 315 a year for my 2004 XB12S. If you work for a dealer the 9's were and are easier on the younger crowds wallet. Buell wants to capture the younger market and they really didn't with the tubers until they got to the XB platform. The 9 was a bigger success for them in that way. If they give us a 1340 the younger ages will not be able to afford. As much as it would be cool they would go backwards with it.

So youre saying they came out with the XB12 for nothing then? All sport bikes capture younger crowds in general. 12's arent that much more money then 9's and lots of dealers sell more 12's then they do 9's. Creating a 1340 wouldnt put it out of the younger crowds reach. Plenty of kids ride 750's and 1000's and even bigger bikes just to have the biggest bike out there. A 1340 would just be another bike in the line up. Plus they are in a way R&Ding a 1340 with the XBRR bikes. Its a 1339cc bike.

You must not work sales. When a kid comes in and say he is 21 and wants a 12. They do the financing get him approved then he has to have insurance. Then they get the cheapest rate they can for the guy and then it puts him in the red and can't cut it. They then push him to the 9 and his bike payment goe's down a wee bit and the insurance goe's down quite a bit because its below a 1000cc's. Lots of company's look at credit type of bike and CC's and then how old you are. I can ride a R1,GSXR,CBR,ZX10. etc for cheaper then the 12. Now insurance is just one reason. Another Buell alway's wants cutting edge I'm expecting greater things then bumping up the CC,s.

I have worked a a couple dealers and never heard of anyone being "pushed" into a 9. They sell them what they want and what their credit allows. Yes, I know they need to have insurance. I had a loan through HD Credit, I know how it all works. But not all insurance companies go off just the CC rating. I got quoted on a 12 for within a few dollars of what you are paying and I am younger than you.
