Hi people. Can anyone give me an idea as to why my fan wont come on my Buell XB 9R? Fuse is fine, the fan works fine and I've just put in a brand new sensor and still nothing, many thanks! Danny

What temperature are you riding in? The engine must reach a certain temperature to kick on. Americansportbike.com offers a ram air kit that cools the back of the engine so you don't even need the fan unless you're sitting around for long periods of time. If your Buell is new enough you should take it to the dealer for warranty work. I'm sure BPG would have more feedback. Good luck.

the bike ain't that new to be taken for warranty work, 2003, as for temperature the fan has without fail always come on before after 15mins of riding, so I would say its always been hot enough for it.

Doesnt sound liek the bike is getting warm enough to need the fan to run.

I agree, not hot enough.

I dont remember exact numbers but with the bike on temp. must be at like 300-320 and off its like 280

Does the fan come on when you shut the key off after 15-20 minutes of riding? If so, it's working fine. If not there is probably a problem.

the fan doesnt come on after 30 mins of riding quite hard so i would say its hot enough, especially when there was a burning smell coming from rear cylinder.

I, in fact have been running into the same issue and mine finally turned on the other day after not not working for about 5 days. But ti took well over 45mins of riding and some sitting in traffic and it was way hot. It used to turn on within 15-20mins of riding also. Plus I too have recently replace the engine teemp sensor. let me know the resolution please!!!

Mine has also been bucking and surging when hot and after about 30 mins of riding anyone have clues to the cause? I work in service at the dealer and my techs are pondering still....

thanks.

Does the engine light come on?

no codes! just ohms tested the coil and it seems to be bad. it's on order, we'll go there first and if not a cam sensor next.

Oh, my temp sensor wasn't plugged in all the way once. The bike would barely run, the fan wouldn't run, then the engine light came on. Well, good luck
