Hi guys, This is my first post here.
I just picked up my new XR1200 last Saturday.
I know this isnt the right forum for me as such, but i am on the hunt for information anywhere i can get it.
I am looking at doing some pretty serious mods to the motor as soon as i can find my way around the bike.

First the EFI needs sorting out and i was wondering if anyone can help in that respect.(so i can junk the pipes and filter, and set myself up for future engine mods) Also this is my first injected bike, so be gentle with me.
Also i am thinking that this thing is pretty closely related to the XB12 engine, but am not totally sure how closely, so again if any of you folks have any info on that that would help to.
Any help/info is much appreciated.

PS. please excuse me butting in on your Buell forum, but i need to gather as much info as i can on this engine.

If I could get the XR1200 parts book, I could tell you most of the, but they don't sell them here in the states. [down]

harley did a lot of the same things to the xr engine as buell did to their 12, they are a similar design, but not identical.
what problems are you having and what type of mods are you trying to do?

always the best way to get the efi right is mapping the ecm to your mods.

if you want to understand the engine, i would suggest getting the service manual.

Any pricing info on the u.s. model? I really wanted the xr1200 and thought it was not comming to the u.s. So I was waiting for the 09 Buell info. You don't have any specs on the 09 model Buell? Preferably the xb12ss.

All specs will be available online. They release the 2009 new models on July 22nd.

The 2009 V-Rods, Sportsters, and Buell Blast models have already been released. I do not have any specs on them as of yet, but I will post them as soon as I find something out.

The only thing I have on the ones that have been released is the hard parts books. I know that the Blast is unchanged. There are lots of new parts on the XR1200. I am excited to see one!!!!

Thanks for the info. My local Harley /Buell guy will be in Vegas on the 22nd and is supposed to call as soon as he has the new model info. I just thought you may know more since you found out that the xr1200 is coming to America. Wait it's already in America just not sold here.. I hope I'm not waiting around for nothing on the Buell. But I would kick my self if there are changes to the new model and I didn't wait. And now I have to decide between the XR1200 and the Buell. decisions decisions.

I may have jumped the gun guys. We will see on the 22nd what is really happening for sure. In typical Harley fashion, don't get your hopes up. Hope for some big changes on the Buells. Cross your fingers

Midas,

I too have a new XR1200 and am looking for performance goodies as well. I found pipes and tuners in the UK but nothing here in the USA yet. There are many Sportster / Buell oriented performance goodies but w/o details about what's inside the XR powerplant, progress is slow. Please keep me posted on stuff you find or details you learn about the XR and I'll do the same.

This is a old post so i don't know if Midas would be around with only 2 post. I think the mods for the XR will come in time. Its still new and a small market so its going to come around like the mods for the XB. Lots of garage stuff and "kinda works" stuff. Most will come from the flat track racers thats making a big comeback. Good luck.

Please let me know if someone knows about a chassis kit to convert a Buell XB12R FIREBOLT componants to build a Custom HD XR1200.I have a crashed Buell and have always loved the layout of the XR750. This would be a fun build and would be really fun to see the look on people face at stop lights.

I've ridden the XR1200. It's not a fun bike to ride. Runs smooth but the position is very weird and can't seem to find a comfortable posture. Prefer the Buell or the VROD.

Seen the XR 1200 today at the dealer. We get them in Canada. Ya the pics might look nice but if you think this thing is gonna look like a real XR...well sorry, I think it looks like ****. It could have been so much nicer. The real XR is a race bike afterall.

There are 2 at our local dealer I saw at the dealer BBQ today. Not a bad looking bike just a little too upright and bulky for me. it looks really heavy but I didn't get to sit on it to check out weight and balance.
