I am thinking about buying a 05 xb9r engine to replace my 03 xb9r engine. Will the 05 engine fit, bolt, in to my 03 frame and swing arm shock attachment on the back of the engine? Is the 05 engin the same as the 03?
If some one could get back to me right away that would help a lot.....

shouldn't need a remap, they are the same. Just try to either keep all the 03 sensors and ecu or use all 05 sensors and ecu. even if you have to mix them it SHOULD be fine.

you might have to change the oil lines. if i remember right the 03 were a one year only swingarm oil line.

Pulley was different tooth pitch in 2003. Some early 2003 XB9R's had a 12 volt speed sensor and the 2005 would have the 5 volt. There is a kit used to if keeping the 2003 ECM and wire harness with the 5 volt sensor. If using the 2005 ECM and a 2003 wire harness just change the power source for the speed sensor to be from the 5 volt sensor out put from the ECM its PIN number 1 gray ECM connector R/W wire (red wire with white tracer). Or just tap in at the crank position sensor power source under the plastic pulley side cover on the right of the motor. Also 2003 and 2005 had different induction modules with different fuel injectors. I have been able to get these to work when miss matching the components and every things but i have also tampered with the ECM before had. what ever induction module you use you will also need the matching rubber intake velocity stack. stator in both years should be 3 phase 38 amp. Also crank position sensor on 2003 was part number 32400-94 and 2005 was 32443-04 I don not know the difference in these parts. I have currently installed in my own XB9r an 2005 ECM with a 2003 crack sensor part number 32400-94 and it does work with our issues so far. And i can also confirm oil lines are different but should be able to make fit with all the parts from either the 2003 or the 2005 but i cant be 100% on that. For now that's all I can remember of the top of my head for doing a motor swap if anything else comes to mind I will post again.
