Corrosion on the valve covers?

Brought my bike to my buddies shop for service,he pointed out that there is some surface corrosion starting to build up on the valve covers and motor mounts.It's like a white powder build up,anyone encounter this?Is it normal,and if not,can I just glass bead the covers and mounts and then spray them?[confused]

Normal. You can media blast them, then coat them if you want. Dont blast or coat the gasket surfaces
