For the cash to replace it if done from start I figure it would cost about $9000 plus some major time, so the price I feel is far, and far lower than what it would cost to reproduce it, even though the bike may only be worth $4500 if near stock.

Got yeah 5-0dro, never updated the description from my last sliders.

As for the future, I am looking at an 1190SX once they are available of course.

All the mods on my bike are pretty straight forward they just require time and some coin depending kn what ones you want to do. All the work on the bike other than paint and powder coat was done by myself, so complete tare down and build up. Nothing major.

I like new stuff, and I built the Warhorse to one extreme and can't really do much else other than engine work. Which I don't have the tools or know how for. So a new project is coming soon. Looking towards an actual race bike also.

Just to tune in - really, really love what you have done with the bike! I'm in the camp that feels your asking price is fair. That is I think so far the sweetest bike I have seen on this site (saying that, I know I just offended all my other XB bros....sorry, bros). Haven't had my '05 XB12R a month yet and have already done a number of things to it....so I feel ya - that's my nature too. All the best in selling it and moving to the next - do it. I would. Of course I did the same thing to get this XB...

I think there's actually multiple ways to look at this bike/subject. I'm awake at 5am, and bored. So ill chime in.

What I've learned with regards to customizing ....

Lets say you buy the bike off the showroom floor, and perform a few tasteful modifications, exhaust, ecm, etc. Then you want to sell it. Well, although you may try to call it a "custom" it isn't. Blue book is the vale of the bike. Not the value of thebike plus it's modifications. So the best thing to do would be before selling, return to stock and sell your aftermarket parts on the aftermarket and make some of it back. Or leave it on the bike and usually eat it on what you spent.

Which is why with bikes, customizing should be kept simple and classy, bike should somewhat appear to be "from the factory "

Obviously, extremelows bike does not fit into this category. For multiple reasons. He cannot put it back to stock, without spending more money. Bike does not appear to be "from the factory" , modifications are more intricate in nature, etc. But his bike does fall into a "frame up custom" category IMO. meaning the point where simple mods can be returned to stock, was surpassed.

Similarly, lets say chip foose buys a random POS. And builds in into a ridiculous awesome custom that he is notorious for producing. Blue book may say his pos is worth $4000 even though he's got $20,000 in it. But its Google to sell for roughly what he has in it because it falls into that custom category. Like the warhorse.

Its a frame up custom, someone will come along and swiipe it right up not caring what its worth as far as blue book value, but want it knowing heart and soul was put into it on a level that surpassed minor bolt ons. It will take take time. But I think in actuality $6500 is AZ reasonable a price as you could find on a clean, we'll thought out, well executed bike of which you will never see another like it.

So what I'm saying is, everything depends on what category the bike falls into, and with regards to modifications

1. Keep your bike 100% stock. Knowing with thr right buyer, You'll get what its worth 100%.
2. Mod your bike slightly, return to stock, sell parts to make money back.
3. Go balls to the wall, put it into the full custom category and sell it in that market.

Extremelow chose option 3

What muffler does it have? Obviously custom, but did you build it yourself, or get it from Hawk, SpecOps, etc? I bet it sounds pretty mean?

I wish I knew what was going to happen with my bike already. Today my bike is getting inspected by HD - and should know by the end of the day or sometime tomorrow if they are fixing, or if insurance will total it out. I'd buy this in a heartbeat if my bike gets totaled out. You're only a few hours drive from me too.

Good luck on the sale.

Kinda bummed ! I was honestly routing against you selling so we could keep a well respected member, i cringed everytime i seen a price drop . Hell i thought $6000 was fair for your bike. Any how hope you still stick around and the new owner aswell . You and a few others on here have influenced me to mod my bike so thank you for showing your creativity. But understandably every project comes to a end hopefully you build another buell for us to see!

New owner says the bike is not running right already. Took it for a spin with no issue here in MI but as soon as he got home the bike was running "funny".

Do you all think it could be the ECM needs to recalibrate to the new place? It has a Race ECM, but I also gave him a stock one to remap with the wide band. Curious as to whether the limits of its self learn may be maxed out....

d_adams
07-26-2012, 01:38 PM
4-5 hours south? Might be a 500-1000 foot elevation change at most but I doubt it. Temp and humidity will be the biggest factors, temps in mid IL have been like they are here at 100+ for most of the summer.

xtremelow
07-26-2012, 03:14 PM

07-26-2012, 07:11 PM
yup thats a ****ty feeling. my scg stopped working the day after i brought it home. didnt start working again until we flashed the ECM back to stock. It was a rough first 2 weeks after dropping 6k for something that wouldnt run.

hope he figures it out.

ageusaf
07-27-2012, 12:08 AM
Hey guys. This thing has me puzzled. Im not pissed at all. I dont mind working with one and besides at the price I got it I can always use it as one hell of a yard ornament and convo piece. hah.
Seriously here is how this happened. I took it for a ride in MI. Had slight hesitation one time in low rpm. I figured it was because it is not ridden much anymore. Got it loaded up and home. Unloaded it and it fired right up. Took it out a country road and at ever stop start it had trouble taking off in low rpm. Had to get into it a little for it to take off. Then once it would get going it would run fine until i got up to speed. THen if I would roll on the throttle it would just fall on its face like it was starving for fuel.

Came back to the house let it cool off then started it up to try again. Got to the first stop sign and it died. WOuld turn over but not start once it started it seemed a bit louder and had a slight tick with the engine... not sure what it was. Still if I tried to put it in gear and take off it would die(again i am thinking a fuel problem). After pushing it back home i checked fluids and all was fine so I started it and idle was 1100rpm and it would idle for 30-45 seconds and choke itself out. I am familiar with the buell platform (as in stock form though) and i am in no way a mechanic or expert.
IF you guys could point me in the right direction that would be fantastic. I am confused as crap.

Also I am new to this place and so far seems to be an awesome group of guys. I dont usually post unless I have something usefull to add to the convo so like usual i just dont post haha.

also check plugs and have the fuel pressure checked.

ageusaf
07-27-2012, 12:26 AM
haha ok I guess I am not even familiar with them.. All of that except the plugs and fuel pressure sounds greek to me. How do I check for codes? I see the chart but what plugs into that?

anrkizm95
07-27-2012, 12:32 AM
click on the link i posted.you use a jumper wire to jump pins 1&2 in the connector this will put the ecm in diag mode and the engine light will flash any codes that are stored.pretty much like the 0ld chevys if your familiar with that.

ageusaf
07-27-2012, 01:14 AM
Haha. Checked it thinking I was on to something. Battery voltage code where I have had the key on to long

anrkizm95
07-27-2012, 01:27 AM
that code could be caused by quite a few different things.regulator, battery, bad connections and wiring. it could also be what is causing your problems.put it on tender over night and see what you get.

ageusaf
07-27-2012, 02:57 AM

Had it on trickle all night. Went out and hooked up jumper and it is still showing voltage problem. Started it once and it idled for 30sec then died and the charger went back to 25% charged. Bad battery? Or is that normal

Loki
07-27-2012, 02:53 PM
Sounds like it could be the battery. Take it to autozone and have them see if it is good.

Well now I don't know. I ordered ecmspy cable. By left the bike on charge all day while at work and got home last night and it fired right up. I checked to make sure it is at least charging. I took it down the road and back. Still has trouble when you roll on the throttle in low rpm but I let it sit and idle for 20 minutes or so
