The primary thing to remember when checking the oil on your Blast is always check the oil when the engine is HOT. A cold engine always shows low- so you add oil and overfill. You don't believe me? OK check your oil when cold, then take a little ride and check her again, then you will see the difference.

do you check the oil on a blast with it leaning on the kickstand or straight up. on the xb you check it leaning on the stand on a level surface.

I guess that the most accurate reading would be straight up, but the tank is high in the frame between the gas tank and triple tree so you get a pretty good read while on the stand. I usually read while on the stand.

With the shape of the tank (the backbone), the position of the dip stick (in the middle), geometrically there should be little to no difference that you can see from reading it upright or on the stand.

If you read it cold, and fill accordingly, you will overfill.

Wait till it's nice and warm, then read it and fill accordingly.

I completely agree to checking when hot. When hot mine reads right at the full line. When cold it reads right at the bottom of the dipstick.

I also checked with the bike standing straight up. Probably the most accurate if you ask me.
