View Full Version : 1125CR with the XB tail

08-07-2008, 11:21 AM
just a quick photochop, im not very good but wanted to see what it looked like.

08-07-2008, 02:12 PM
I think that looks pretty slick. Granted I would go for that shade of red. Black would look badass I think.

08-07-2008, 03:02 PM
Take it to the paint shop and get it any color you want, definately sick though.

08-07-2008, 10:40 PM
i just dont find the 1125cr or the 1125r looking good at all, i think the front is ugly as hell. the 1125r kinda looks like a honda 1000rr from the front.

08-08-2008, 12:49 AM
Nice mock-up, but with the XB rear it even looks more like a top heavy defensive lineman. Now if there was a way to lose those gross ass scoops and relocate the radiator, then we'd be in business.:D

08-10-2008, 09:10 PM
I like the 1125CR much better in red. I wasn't a big fan the first time I saw the black one. I could go with either tail section. Nice photoshop work![up]

08-11-2008, 12:00 AM
I think it would look even better with the S tail instead of the Ss tail, but I'm still no fan of the 1125 line anyway.

08-14-2008, 11:28 AM
yeah we dont get S in australia. dont think it would be very hard to do either as the 1125 has the same rear as the xb12r so theory should be close to direct swap. waiting for dealer to get a CR in so i can see it in flesh to make my decision. between the 1125CR and the XB12SS

08-19-2008, 10:32 PM
phrogg, heres one for ya all black.

no mirrors

few Questions for the masses, how easy do you think it would be to change rear seems like the rear is the same as the XBR so as the XBR can change with the XBS should be direct swap ??

if removing mirrors where could i mount the indicators, probly get bar end mirrors. cheers

08-20-2008, 01:17 AM
if removing mirrors where could i mount the indicators, probly get bar end mirrors.

This has me thinking, doesn't anyone make bar-end mirrors with indicators in them? There's an idea...

I assume you meant where could you put them on your actual bike...but if you meant in photoshop, I would graft something onto/into the big ass air scoops. May even try it on the real thing if something could be found to make it work and look good.

08-20-2008, 09:50 AM
yeah i was thinking grafted into the scoops like the benelli and other similar bikes. indicators on the bar end mirrors might work. will have to see when the dealer gets one in, in october. cheers

12-04-2008, 10:09 PM
thats real

12-04-2008, 10:16 PM
somebody makes bar ends with turn signals i know that... just dont remember who at the moment. i was looking into ordering some for my 1100 before i sold it. the name oberon comes to mind... oh here they are i found them. enjoy:

12-05-2008, 05:48 AM
dunno bout the pods, but hell yeah to the bellypan, add that with the drummer once its out, would be sweet.

also... i have got one xb side rail and will check for fitment if it looks do able i will order rest and start the transformation, will post pictures if it goes a head.

12-05-2008, 11:48 AM
Yep I like that last one a bit more but put the S tail on it not the Ss and I think then I would be able to really like it.

12-05-2008, 04:27 PM
hey what did they do to the cr? did they take off the scoops? cause they are my least favorite thing about the cr

12-05-2008, 09:06 PM
Hey Bloxx, you dont have a picture of that cr from the front do you?

12-06-2008, 01:24 PM
visit www.eskalation.de
its brandnew

12-16-2008, 07:56 AM
riddle me this,

how much shorter is the S tail to the SS,( i want a short tail but not ridiculously short) and will a 2008 S seat fit the 2009 SCG tail

12-17-2008, 12:06 AM
Ok, it's about 2 inches I think, second question is yes since I just put a S seat on my Scg because the only dif. between the S and Scg is the seat and about 1 inch lower suspension everything else is the same

08-16-2009, 11:00 PM

how about this with some dirt bike bars instead of the clubmans. my kind hooligan machine :D

08-17-2009, 02:59 AM
I'm likin' that one blotto![up]

08-17-2009, 06:55 PM
lunatic, can you take an xbs rear instead of the ss one?

with & without mono seat cover would be nice [smirk]

08-21-2009, 06:36 AM
no mirrors
I think im in love!

08-25-2009, 01:27 PM

here are 2 pictures taken from Badweb, with a S tail, comfort bars, and a M2 headlight

08-25-2009, 02:13 PM
Man those are some big liscense plates. Almost looks like it could create tail lift at high speed.

08-25-2009, 02:28 PM
Wow. Glad in the states we get motorcycle plates and don't have to use car plates. The size of them looks terrible. I like the seat on that 1125 though. I'd like to see the M2 light on the front.

08-25-2009, 03:38 PM
If I'm not mistaken, the above picture of the 1125 with the S seat has a lightning front end also. LOOK VERY CLOSELY, You can see the dual headlights.

Or am I just having wishful thinking?

08-25-2009, 07:07 PM
somebody makes bar ends with turn signals i know that... just dont remember who at the moment. i was looking into ordering some for my 1100 before i sold it. the name oberon comes to mind... oh here they are i found them. enjoy:

Oberon Bar Ends with LED

Now if only they made those to work with their bar end mirrors. I'd have a set in a flash. They look slick.

08-25-2009, 07:14 PM

Just wishful thinking haha. It's actually the fron end off an older M2. This guy mixed it up a lot but all bad ass!

08-25-2009, 07:35 PM
as the Presidents of the United States of America would say, "She's a mixed up son of a bitch"

08-25-2009, 09:01 PM
like the styling but this thing needs some paint cause at the moment, it's a colorbook!

and the front-end isn't cr, since it's not black...but isn't the m2 front titanium colored?

08-25-2009, 09:51 PM
Now if only they made those to work with their bar end mirrors. I'd have a set in a flash. They look slick.

It appears in the pictures they do work with their bar end mirrors so it looks like your going to be getting a set here soon lol

08-25-2009, 10:44 PM

here is the site they originally came from.

04-09-2010, 05:15 PM
i really like that 1125 with the s tail. could use the lightning front end too and get rid of the dumbo scoops like that 1125 on the previous page with the firebolt tail. if only i was an engineer and not a poor grad student.

i hope a build like this will happen in my future.

scg tail would be ever better though

04-09-2010, 07:36 PM
The CR is a sexy biotch, it needs nothing. Toss the stock mirrors and you're set.

The xb tail just doesn't flow with the rest of the bike. I'm not a huge fan of the stock tail by any means, but it fits better with the pods.

04-09-2010, 07:57 PM
dig the 1125r/CR but those elephant ears are ugly as **** imo! [down]

I do like the pods better then the ears and that S tail on the CR is dope!

04-09-2010, 09:05 PM
where's the tail light?

other than the license plate, that thing looks tits!

04-09-2010, 09:13 PM
I love the Cr! Toss the stock exhaust& mirrors& it's ON![up]
Weather you like it or not , you have to admit it's another unique buell creation.[up]
Never to be confussed in a pack of rice burners![smirk]

05-17-2010, 06:02 AM
I love the pods on the CR. I really want to put them on my 07 12s. is there a way that is possible? i REALLY want to do it. Any ideas? help? thanks

05-19-2010, 11:56 PM
Here's another one...

05-20-2010, 12:19 AM
a black cr with a lightning seat is the sweetest bike i have ever seen it just looks hooligan DAMMMM!!![up][up][mad][up][up]

05-20-2010, 11:28 AM
wow they ruined a nice cr im not gona lie that is deffinetley the ugliest buell ever. that round headlite and the scoop look stupid

05-20-2010, 12:31 PM
I agree...the headlight is what makes a CR. The M2 headlight doesnt look right IMO.

To each their own though. I guess thats what makes Buells and the owners so unique. [up]

05-20-2010, 03:20 PM
Agree also, but I would like a different widescreen not a huge fan of the bland stocker.

Here is my little shop to the above shopped bike, tried to add the frame in all the way, chopped exhaust, touch up the tail (I would go with an S tail) and an actual radiator location.

05-20-2010, 04:14 PM
I do agree on the headlight but man Is the rest sick looking, do it up xtremelow [up]

03-09-2011, 10:35 AM
drew what is that bike from? is the lower chin part of the scoops? thats what it looks like. i would get a 1125 and do that scoop setup to it. imo it looks a lot better

03-09-2011, 11:28 AM
Drews pic is a photoshop, no such fairing kit is available.
One of the European aftermarket companies makes a sweet CR fairing kit that is similar. I believe its solobuell. I am too sick and lazy right now to look it up, sorry [sad]

Also Lunatic, it is not a direct swap, the bottom mounts line up, but the top edges needs to be shaved to increase the angle of the tail, and the top left is way off. The top right is close, but not quite.

I know, I put a Uly tail on my 08R and did a CR front end swap.
Someone by the name of Texas something has a post about it, and I did my best to give him advice.

You will need some machining capabilities, or some decent fab skills to get it done. Also the rear shock is off to the right of the bike, so the undertail needs to be modified.

Here are some pics of mine, mock up and where I stand now. I still need to get the tail painted.

03-09-2011, 11:30 AM

03-09-2011, 12:25 PM
Toss the exhaust and you are set. Thats my only grip with them. Ugly ass exhaust.

03-09-2011, 12:37 PM
I kinda like the CR as is... minus the mirrors. that red one above is pretty sweet looking IMHO

03-09-2011, 01:14 PM

03-09-2011, 01:42 PM
where did you relocate the heatsink?

03-09-2011, 01:53 PM
I want

03-09-2011, 02:18 PM
Loki, not sure if you are speaking about my bike, but I do haves Barker on now(again)

Two guns, are you talking about my bike? Not sure what you mean by heatsink?

03-09-2011, 02:38 PM
its the metal box in teh wiring that was attached to the CR subframe and was to disperse the ehat to teh frame. regulator or something... but we call it hte heat sink. you would have needed to relocate that to some part of your S frame or something. just curious of the solution?

03-09-2011, 03:20 PM
Ahh the regulator! That's what I call it!

I relocated it behind the battery. That was the one item that I had to modify besides the tail/signal wiring. I had to lengthen the 3 wires coming from the stator.

The components were mounted like this front to back

Starting solenoid-------battery
Fuse box------------------
relay box-----------------regulator

Plenty of room in the uly tail. Should be plenty in the s or ss tail as well.

03-09-2011, 03:30 PM
there is not plenty in the S tail. very compact. with all that wiring. i have already looked at it. and decided not to go there just yet. didnt like the idea of modding my wiring.

03-09-2011, 03:37 PM
I suppose, I only have experience with the ss tail. Modding the wiring isn't that bad. There are only 4 components in there. The hard part is getting the tail to fit!

03-09-2011, 04:39 PM
an old concept picture:

03-09-2011, 04:43 PM

03-09-2011, 04:54 PM

03-10-2011, 08:36 AM
people really know how to ruin a good looking bike the xb tails make it look to short it seems like the tail end is 2 open like a dirt bike or something

03-10-2011, 09:17 AM
i think it would look perfect if the radiator scoops weren't so big. like up the maidens pic. but i do like the cr headlight assy.:D

03-10-2011, 12:35 PM
i dont agree 09redcr1... wiht the right mods, the CR is hot with the S tail...

03-10-2011, 01:28 PM
wiht the right mods, the CR is hot with the S tail...

I love the S tail on the CRs as well, which is the reason I have so many pictures of it on my computer when I don't even have a CR. The short tail is my favorite thing about Buells, whether it's the XBs or the S1. I think with some normal high bars the bike looks great with the XB tail. I'm not crazy about the photoshops with the Ss tails though, it's gotta be the shorter S tail.

03-10-2011, 01:42 PM
1+ for s tail! but it does look better with the side fairing like the picture drew has!

03-11-2011, 07:02 AM
Im in process with my 1125R to convert to CR with lightning xx12scg tail. So far, ITS A BITCH, LOL. I should look good afterward but lots of mods to brackets and metal cutting and such. I have the CR frontend already and just waiting for all the carbonfiber to come in next week. I have some pics but need to download them... TexasRoadRanger@yahoo.com

03-11-2011, 08:32 AM
yea i do agree about the speed of color buell that is the sexiest buell out there actually my back ground on my computer and phone

03-12-2011, 06:03 AM
once i finish mine, it should look like the pic that upthemaiden posted but mine will have the CR frontend, and all the plastics will be carbonfiber.

03-12-2011, 07:06 AM
CR's look badass with lightning tails, IMO.

I like the look of firebolts with lighting tails, too! (my bike)

I was in the process of a full lightning conversion, and spring came quickly. I started thinking of how to get the bike back together quickly, and I ended up with the lightning SCG tail on my bike. The look really grew on me, so I decided to keep it that way!

If I ever buy a CR, the lightning tail conversion is a must!

03-12-2011, 07:21 AM
I love the firebolts with lightning tails. I fully intend to do that to my lightning someday when I want a project.

Texas: just go above this post and click on the link that says "my pics" then upload whatever you've got. When you go to post something just click the button that says "Add Your Photo" and the whole list will pop up.

03-20-2011, 07:15 PM
So, far. This conversion is a bitch... I broke the right rail and tail center section today during my attempt to install. Im gonna have to start all over and put some more research and development into this conversion. Having to make offset brackets and such. I have most of carbonfiber installed and just trying to figure something on the clipon bars and finding brake and clutch levers with hydraulic remote cans. This entire conversion suxxxx but should be cool when finished.

03-22-2011, 12:28 AM
I havent been able to work much on conversion but here a pic or two of what Ive done. I still need alot of work and R&D on tailsection.http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/6538_20110321182242_L.jpghttp://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/6538_20110321181953_L.jpg

03-22-2011, 12:44 AM
like i said... its not simple. i want to see how you go with relocation of hte heatsink etc. battery size and all the wiring.

i got the tail sorted but then found it too much to fit everything! so reverted.... for now.

03-22-2011, 02:55 AM
How about a CR with a Stt seat and front fender..

03-22-2011, 10:01 AM
Its alot of work but hopefully it will work out.

03-25-2011, 06:46 PM
I worked some more on my conversion today but ended up putting the 1125R tail back on for now because beachnbikerfest.com is coming up April 15 at SPI,TX and I cant miss it. Im having friends ride down so goto be able to have passenger seat for rider. Will continue my conversion afterward. I will keep this post updated as much as possible.

03-30-2011, 11:27 AM

04-03-2011, 10:12 PM
I got call on Friday that more parts have arrived for my conversion project. I got the Renthal clip-on bars but more and more homework I do, the more the stock 'clubman bars' sound better and better. I found some brembo master cylinder levers for brake and clutch but then Im being told I will need to replace the actual calipers as well. Anyway, I should have the stock 'clubmans' on the next week. The XB lightning tail is still being set aside for now and will be in the 'fabrication status' hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Im very honest that I 'REALLY' want to do some good designing and homework on this conversion because of sooo many people asking about the conversion. I know people want to do it and some have tried and failed. Im actually trying to put it on paper with measurements and all so others can do it. By all means, if anyone has ideas or comments or complaints or bitches, I don't care!!! I really would like feedback from as many people as possible... Please give me ideas of what YOU want to see and maybe anything I may be missing or forgeting to look into while designing.. Im gonna try and design this conversion for 2 people, rider and passenger. Thanks for all feedback.... Email me personally if you need to or want to. TexasRoadRanger@yahoo.com Michael

04-28-2011, 09:47 PM
OK folks, wish me luck. I am gonna try and do the xb tail swap on my r-cr this weekend. Will update pics when i can. thx

04-28-2011, 11:04 PM
keep track of the details for us too.

good luck! ;)

04-29-2011, 05:08 AM

04-30-2011, 02:30 PM
Worked on bike today some. Had to replace the thermostat and one of the fans came unplugged so hope this is my overheating problem. I worked some on the left side rail special bracket and was trying to make it out of 1/4" steel plate. I have it bent up to help attach the left rail some but trying to engineer more bracing to maybe attach to bottom mount on the back side for more stress relief and make front mount stronger to help with holding 2 people on bike. I havent downloaded pics yet but will try and update in the next couple of weeks. Im still waiting for rear center section so i can do entire frame work and paint while designing more structure points under seat. Thanks to all who have emailed me with questions, comments, other ideas, concerns, and just good ole 'get r done and take lots a pics'. thank u all:D

05-03-2011, 11:16 PM
Im on hold for now waiting for more parts to come in mail via UPS and USPS.

05-27-2011, 08:47 PM
OK fellow buellers.... She should be complete tomorrow hopefully.... I need to do the evans coolant swap but i should have it done tomorrow. I have completed the 1125R-CR conversion and now i have completed the XB tail swap and before you ask, no i will not show you how i did it because it was a BITCH BITCH BITCH!!!!!!! Im here to show you that it CAN be done and not HOW it was done, lol. Im gonna try and post pics tomorrow.. Thanks to all who gave me ideas and advise. ML

05-28-2011, 08:52 PM

SHE'S COMPLETE..... My 2008 Buell 1125R-CR with xbscg tail conversion and complete carbon fiber kit. This is my dream come true. I still have problem with keeping frontend on the ground under hard acceleration. Thanks to all who gave me advise or ideas. TexasRoadRanger@yahoo.com

05-28-2011, 09:03 PM
[up][up] nice work!

05-28-2011, 11:44 PM
Looks great, wish I had 1.

05-29-2011, 10:00 AM
Thx guys, believe me when i say its not a direct bolt-on. Lots of designing and adjusting of mounting points and such. Im very happy with it though. I went out this morning for some very hard riding with the RGV sport riders and was really hitting the curves and turns hard and she held up very fine and overheating problem is gone. Im happy...

06-20-2011, 09:01 AM
anyone see this bike yet?

06-20-2011, 12:22 PM
that one in the link looks awesome. I keep wondering with pegusas racing is going to come out with the radiator kits for the typhon because i think those would look awesome on a cr.

06-20-2011, 12:44 PM
1 word for the 1125 with the xbs tail.....SEXY.

06-20-2011, 08:50 PM
I have to agree 2004[up]:D

07-30-2011, 08:39 AM
I have an 09 cr and I am deffinatly looking to put an xb tail on it, what would it cost me roughly n where could I find one?

07-30-2011, 10:21 AM
With parts and labor, stress, headaches, and just all around BS, I probably spent over $1000.00. You need the side rails, undertray, seat, dremel tool, tape measure, mechanic and engineering skills, several different types of nuts and bolts, and lots and lots of patience....

07-30-2011, 12:45 PM
Okay not a problem, I am actually a tech myself, where did you get the stuff for ypurs?

07-30-2011, 02:06 PM
all new parts from HD/Buell dealer. I used 2008 xb12scg tail. Just go to dealer and ask to look at parts catalog.

08-04-2011, 07:51 AM
excellent, thanks a lot!!

08-08-2011, 06:29 PM

This is recent pics of my 2008 1125R-CR with lightning tail conversion and complete carbonfiber kit by AmericanSportBike.com.

10-16-2011, 02:51 PM
Does anybody have a complete xb tail section for sale?

10-16-2011, 02:57 PM
Damn i love that bike. I'd put a full fairing kit on it and call it my true love. haha

10-21-2011, 06:54 AM
I put the lower xb lightning fairing bellypan that EBRacing sells and really looks cool now.... I have had a few buell guys in area want to do this same conversion and carbonfiber kit. Only problem is they dont want to pay the money for parts and all the labor and such. I bought EVERYTHING new so I wouldnt have any problems. These guys just wanna be cheap, lol.

05-25-2012, 06:27 PM
Im installing RR tailsection and will have the XB lightning tail up for grabs if anyone interested, email me. TexasRoadRanger@yahoo.com.

02-05-2013, 06:05 AM
I was brain-storming with a fellow bueller and we were looking at the RR brackets that come with the FreeSpirit solo tailsection and tank cover from adrenaline-moto.uk and I think with a little engineering and measurements, Im thinking of maybe making some experimental brackets out of wood and see what it would take to maybe make a mold to make some 'aftermarket brackets' to attach an XB tail section (complete) onto an 1125 frame. Im just throwing it out there and it might take a while, but if it is sucessful, I will keep all of you up to date.

02-05-2013, 06:08 AM

here was last photo with xb tail and xb lower fairing from EBRacing.

02-05-2013, 06:36 AM
On wet roads do those style tails (in particular those with a fender eliminator) throw all sorts of grime onto the rider's back?

Is your bracket idea to make a wood mold for a fiberglass piece? If so, be careful that it is rigid. Maybe leave a wood core (balsa?) or a foam core to be safe. I'd hate to see you flailing around on a broken subframe with the rear tire about to eat your nutsack!

02-05-2013, 08:36 AM
No, I think making a wooden 'mold' that I can carve and cut on and do all the adjustments to where it fits perfect, and then take that mold to a metal shop and fabricate the exact pieces out of aluminum or billet (something strong and reinforced) Im sure LOTS of trial and error but wood 1X4's or something similar are a piece of cake to cut with a scroll saw or band saw. Plus, if I messup, just get another piece of wood, lol.

02-05-2013, 07:44 PM
A hot knife on modeling foam is even easier to sculpt than wood, from what I've seen.

02-06-2013, 06:08 PM
I was kinda thinking wood because I could actually have a 'hard mold' so I can bolt everything up and see how it looks with the complete tailsection bolted up and give my 'It looks good to me' approval.

02-06-2013, 06:22 PM
Tex did you sell that xb tail?

02-07-2013, 06:02 AM
yep, sure did. I have all the measurements still though.

02-07-2013, 08:31 AM
I knew I should have bought it when i seen it for sale. The more I see it the more I like it if you have the measurements or diagrams could you e mall them to me stensg88@gmail.com

02-09-2013, 11:21 PM
I have this tail section for sale. Send me an offer. It is complete without a seat.

04-15-2013, 05:24 PM

These came with my RR fairings for the solo tail/ tank setup and when I totalled my 2008 1125R in Feb 2013, I salvaged them off the frame before insurance company picked up bike. Im gonna try and maybe see if I can fabricate/ modify them somehow to bolt-up an S Tail and actually be able to ride 2 up. (2 people)
