Actually the Deals Gap Resort now has beer. Not a whole lot of choices, just a few generic brands. The Pit Stop at Fontana on 28 has Yuengling, that's what I like.

This summer stayed at the simple life campground (http://thesimplelifecampground.com/default.aspx). Motorcycle and pet friendly- great place. 17 miles from Deals Gap. I plan on camping there for the Dragon V.

i am outside of Grand rapids about 30 minutes south of greenville.
I have plenty parking open.
Depanding on how the weather is i maybe trailering or riding.
Last year no way could i have rode for that matter i never even rode before i got there.
year before i had already ridden 500 miles..Never know up here in the north how fast or if spring will come lol

Normally the first day is get checked in if your arrive early ride the Dragon. then a group ride somewhere (normally the back porch in telico but i don't think it was open last time i was at the tail).

The other days weather permitting will be group rides. weather permitting. Group pace varies by size but normally we have a good paced leader and a slow peace sweeper to be sure nobody gets left or lost.

ALWAYS RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE AT A PEACE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most these meets end because someone got in over there head and gets hurt.

The roads in that area are amazing and there's plenty to see.

One night we have some kind of dinner and raffle or prizes at the deals gap resort.

Campfire,Drinking and BS sessions every night

This is all in the planning stages.

Rocket if you ride a blast in over 3-400 miles you will get something.

I don't have a Blast, was just the first "what if?" that came to mind.

I guess I just wanted to make sure we're above the usual "cruiser" speed :) within the law of course....

Sounds like a good time. My wife will probably go too and take photos for us and then go sight seeing while "the guys" are out riding.

If this happens to be the last Buell Dragon event, I want to be a part of it. Hope to meet everybody there!!

For those of you that have been there, how many days are necessary to be there? I'm trying to figure out my plans and try to recruit some locals to go along. looking at tarailering the bikes down. Call me a wuss but that's too far for me :D

First of all-All are welcome! All that matters is that you love to ride and ride responsibly.

Thur- Ride to dinner-optional. Everyone is coming in at different times, it is just a chance to meet everyone in a relaxed setting. After dinner we start the bonfire back at the resort and the drinking and BS'ing start, plus welcome in the late arrivals.

Fri- Usually kickstands up between 9 and 10 and off to ride some of the best roads on the east coast. Back at the resort 5ish. Cookout or dinner from the resort.(there food is awsome and you won't walk away hungry) More Fire and partying. Some type of raffle or giveaway.

Sat-Another ride, usually shorter than Fridays. Back to the resort then open to whatever you want. More Fire and partying.

Sun-Everyone heads back home at their own pace.

Dragonslayer and some of the others more local to the area map out a couple of ride options for each day and we go from there.

Just thought I would mention that it's costing some money to bring the fire show out to the Deal's Gap Resort. My wife and I are taking care of the biggest part of the cost. We started saving up several months ago. There's never been any kind of charges for this event, but if anyone would like to pitch in and help, it would be more than welcome. Unifire does performances all over western NC and other parts of the southeast and they are Awesome!! They are so excited about coming to The Dragon. Ill Be Driving down from the upper penninsula of Michigan probably going through Wisconsin maybe Michigan it doesnt really matter but ill be driving the truck with the 1125r in a enclosed trailer. I have a room at deals gap and my original plan fell through with some guys. so i have plenty of room in the trailer for some more bikes if anyone is interested and I guess two extra beds. I believe the rooms have three beds. so if anyone wants to hook up on the way down or needs a bed. Ill split costs with someone for the room and gas if need be send me a PM and let me know. There's a "destination resort" up the road I stayed at last time called Fontana Village, it was nice but very expensive IMHO for just sleeping there.

I wouldn't try it with less than 7 bills, 650 if I thought I could have a bit wired if I got in trouble. but then I'm the type to roll up in the back of the truck to sleep and live off of Roman noodles for the trip.

I,m driving from WI.With everything I could think of I came up with.
$185 in fuel there and back.
$50 a day for gas in bike = $200
$125 for room 4-nights sharing a room.
$200 food 5 days
= $710 give or take.

Anyone that has done the trip before that see's something I'm forgetting please correct.

Hey y'all, I'll be there. Not been an active member on this forum, but since buellforums.com has shut down, here I am. Me and Dragonslayer go way back, I think we're the only 2 still doing this that were at Dragon I in 2008. Every year has got better and it's always a great time. Dragon IV was the best yet, but I think V will be better. I can tell when it's mid-March, because all I can think about is going to the Dragon with a bunch of Buell lovers. Can't wait, see you there.

The last Dragon? I saw that in an earlier post, but no reason we can't keep it going. It started as Buell lovers showing up to ride the Dragon in mid-April. There's no real organization or entry fees or anything. As long as we have Buellers willing to show up, we can keep doing it. No one's really in charge, although Dragonslayer has always been the main guy. I haven't missed one yet, and the good Lord willing, I'll be at Dragon VI too in 2013. Hope you can make it some year, Grifmeister.

Last I heard Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort was booked up, but they do have camping. There are also a couple other places to stay within a reasonable distance. A few that had rooms reserved have had to back out and passed their rooms on to fellow Buellers, and some may have a spare bed in their room you can rent. Bottom line--show up and I doubt you will get turned away, but try to arrange something ahead of time.

Well when i was pulled over in the Nantahala natational forest, the park ranger that gave me the ticket said that since i was from a different state that the points usually dont carry over to your licence as long as you pay the ticket. but he also said thats not legal advice and dont hold him to that... but i havnt noticed my insurance go up so i guess it didnt transfer. I think the ticket was $150 ish? for passing illegally



Oh and MAKE SURE you have with you at all times:
1. License with endorsement or proof that you have one
2. Proof of insurance
3. Registration

it dosnt matter if your state dosnt require you to carry it with you. Bring them.


oh and also if you have your license plate in an odd spot (ex. sideways on a swingarm, or tucked really far back under your tail, or at an odd angle), be prepared to be given a hard time

The trip to the Dragon is on my mind about 99% of the time now and for you guys with XB bikes that have been there before does your bike run any better or worse cause i just thought about the 2000 foot elevation we will be in.I think cause the air is thinner our bikes will run rich.Is this correct? my bike is set up for 750foot elev.Should i lean it out or just leave it alone.

If you have done any tuning with Max then you will learn some of this. You should be fine if your corrections are turned on since they do add compensation for higher and lower elevation and temperature. This is why we have an 02 sensor to figure out what our engines want.

Ok I have a couple questions . Does deals gap have WiFi? If not how is the phone service ?
Reason I'm asking is I have to see UFC 145 . I have searched and it seems there is nowhere within a reasonable distance to watch it so I have came to the conclusion that my laptop is going to be my only hope WiFi would be awesome but if not I can use wireless tether through my phone but only if service is good enough .
Any info would be greatly appreciated .

No wifi and no cell signal... they do have a land line u can use but u will need a calling card to do long distance calls. Cell Signal is pretty scarce up there esp. if you have AT&T.

The closest thing your gonna get is if you have verizon, fontana village has verizon hotspots. Which is like 10 or 15 mins down the road (hwy 28).

Idk much about UFC stuff but the rooms have satellite... but i dont think u can do pay per view stuff.

I found a nice surprise in the mail box! Dunlop has donated a certificate for 1 free motorcycle tire.

we have quite a few nice items to up for grabs at the rally this year.

Heres what we have so far and what were working on:

XLcheese / pink gorilla cycles has donnated a pair of really cool disc brake lock with built in alarms

XB Dashboards are planning to send some super duper fancy dash plates

alot of the gas stations in the area are mom and pop and its not uncommon to find out that they dont take plastic.

I just installed a new front Diablo tire, am replacing my fork seals and fluid, and am replacing my front and rear brake pads along with fluid and rear brake switch.

I am trying to get my new belt installed, ECM spy, various carbon fiber parts, seat recovered, new levers, new grips, New rear brake line installed, new signals, and some other small things done before I go to the Dragon. I may not get all of it done.

Just spent last hour looking at photos of killboys pics and going crazy thinking what a great time its going to be!!Last week I wrestled a ladder off a roof and landed on my wrist and have been wearing a brace trying to do what ever it takes so I'm good for the Dragon.I will for sure be putting lots of ice and maybe drinking a few after riding each day,The 18th can't come fast enough![up]

Finished servicing my forks and replacing the seals. Replaced front and rear brake pads and brake fluid. Replaced the rear brake light switch and now shes 100% ready to go. Just need to do a little detailing now.

Ok I have officially joined the bunch( I have the ICH) . I can't stop thinking about the dragon . I'll be leaving Fl. next thursday and these 9 days aren't going to be able to go by fast enough . Stoked and can't wait .
