View Full Version : Hose Re-route requires TPS Reset?

So I just did the Hose Re-route, rode it 20 or so miles, and quite honestly can't tell a significant difference. Most of what I'd read before-hand, sounded like there would be a huge difference. (i.e. No more low speed surging, rough idling in 1st gear, especially the airbox "blowback" at low speeds 2800rpm to 3200rpm) I've still got the infamous airbox stutter when running around 2800 - 3200 rpm; which is the main reason I did this. Do I need to do a TPS reset or something? If so how? Thanks.

some more info on the bike would be helpful [smirk]

+1 on the "no difference". I did the re-route and found no change at all, not that I was really expecting any change on the surging/ intake popping issue. The only thing that I found to help that is ECM Spy. Unless your bike is an '08, you can use ECM Spy to do your own TPS reset also. Chances are though, a reset alone won't eliminate your surge/pop.

My bike is an '06 XB12S. Got around 2200 miles on it and is fully stock. I did this based on the majority of positive posts that I'd seen. I'm not saying it was a complete waste of time, it's just that I'm not seeing some of the results that were posted in earlier posts on this subject. I think it's worth it alone just to keep that crud out of my airbox. I just thought I needed to do something else to get rid of that infamous airbox "pop".

you'll get the most out of this mod when you do it in combo with an open airbox mod.

the surge will be much less with open airbox but with the re-route you'll get better throttle-responce.

Thanks, I figured that might be the next step. Does the new year model airboxes (I hear they have more air inlet cutouts) fit my year model, 2006?

Found pics of the newer year model inner airbox cover as compared to the older models. Thought I'd share, they're the first pictures that I've found.

Ok some guys say the hose reroute makes a difference and some don't. LeFox said it works better when the open airbox mod is done with it I believe. So that being said does it working differently on different year bikes? My 08 has a open airbox stock like the picture shown above. How would this mod work for my Buell?

I would think it would still be worth doing the Hose re-route since you've kinda got the Open Airbox mod done stock on your bike with that Stock cut airbox. If nothing else, you won't be spitting leftover burn fumes and oil condensation bits into your intake manifold.

All it can do is help your bike. You'll be taking in totally clean air, instead of mix of clean & un-burned gases. And it's so simple, you'll learn a lot about your new bike. It's definitely worth it.

Worse case scenario you decide to undo it, spend 10 minutes and it's back stock, so no big deal really, this is the best type of mod. It's only permanent if you want it to be.
