Well...What can I say? Our design is slightly different than what you have and unfortunately for us you're not the only one with those. ;) May I suggest one our pulley covers or axle sliders to make your bike "unique" again? :p

my reason for not having bought the GSG sliders thus far isn't cost, it's that the right side just doesn't seem strong enough to me. Just my .02.

Firefighter: Thanks for the input. You've made some good points but let me attempt to explain our design.

I agree. In the pictured design of the timing cover slider, the small bolts would likely shear off during an impact. In our design, the screws don't do much of the work. Our part will be made from Delrin (as opposed to aluminum) to absorb the impact and utilizes the original structure and geometry of the case to support it and keep it in place.

The problem in utilizing the 3 screws you mentioned is that they are relatively in line with one another. You get a significant amount of strength from working in triangles so a bracket in that area would not be too useful.

I hope this makes sense. If not, I'll try harder :p

Also this to me seems like it could cause more damage then protection depending on the crash. Low speeds this does look like it would be amazing to have, but what about high speed crashes? To me it seems like a high speed lay over would break the slider off (possibly your bolts and/or case) then go to the headers or frame instead of going straight for the headers or frame. Could this be the case?

$100 is for both sides.

Every situation is different and high speed impacts are difficult to predict. In no way are these intended to be a forcefield for your bike but they will likely help. The part that would make contact with the ground will be made of Delrin to absorb as much impact as possible while wearing away slightly and reducing the case's chances of being damaged. For these reasons, I don't anticipate that it would cause more damage than if it weren't there.

I guess I dont know your margins on this nor do I expect to. It seems to me like you are trying to make some money which is fine. I would expect you are trying to make at least 100% on them. If you are below that then hats off to you. If you are just making a huge margin on them then I would suggest lowering it in an attempt to sell more numbers. Just based on the fact of how long it took to get 15 people to bite at a price of $105.

Definitely not making a huge margin but not giving them away either. ;) I thought 6 days was pretty decent to reach 15 (actually 16) orders so my thoughts are that the market will definitely bear more than the discounted price. Just looking for a fair market value of it. ...and considering there is only competitor sliders for the 03 models costs over $200, I think the $135 is fair. It doesn't neccessarily matter what a competitor has, unless it has the same application, which the T-Rex ones don't.

To me, the $135 price is fair. That is, assuming the machining and anodize are of high quality (which I have no doubt they both are based off of your other items).

It will probably be wise to offer the delrin components as separate items in the future so one can replace these items in the event of a spill.

Is it possible to request black hardware?

Unfortunately I haven't seen able to source black hardware that was both strong enough for the application and that had ample corrosion resistance. Standard black oxide bolts that would be strong enough would rust really quickly and that's the last thing I want to happen. Function takes slight priority over looks in this scenario.

I'll keep looking around for it but short of powder-coating the hardware (which I don't have the budget for) I'm doubtful that I will have much luck. It appears that my competition has the same problem as they all use non-black hardware.

The other option would be paint but I haven't had much luck doing that as they usually chip or scratch the bolt head where they are tightened (which looks bad and makes them prone to corrosion).

If any of you have any sources for black alloy steel hardware (grade 8 or better) with good corrosion resistance, please feel free to pass them along via a PM.

I want to communicate a few changes on these parts (for the better) from the original description. They are:

- The sliders will NOT be machined from Delrin brand resin but another high performance resin that is actually more resilient than Delrin. Still black though.

- Hardware will NOT be stainless steel. As I mentioned previously, stainless hardware is not strong enough for this application. I have been able to source some custom made black (YES BLACK :D ) hardware that is comparable to the strength and corrosion resistance of the hardware on your bike's case now.

I've been able to make these changes while keeping my price the same so I'm happy about that! [up]

Hey 50 have you thought about this aspect: say you lay your bike over at 5mph with your engine sliders installed not a big deal even if there was a pot hole and one got caught on the edge of that pot hole but take that speed up to about 40. One of those catches an edge and say goodbye to your crankcase.

Valid thought. Thank you for your input. Yes, we definitely put a significant amount of thought to that. Our design mitigates that risk by using high performance resin sliders which are compliant. Their compliancy is intended to absorb impact while they "shave" or wear down on the pavement or whatever they go down on (also absorbing energy). If the sliders were aluminum or harder this risk would be much greater. That's also why we recently opted for stronger hardware. This was designed to keep the base (and the engine case) in tact while the sliders to the work.

That being said, these case sliders can't be expected to be a "force-field" for your engine cases. As you mentioned, things get very unpredictable at higher speeds (road surface effects, flipping, etc) so the sliders cannot be expected to save your engine cases in every situation but we intend for them to give your engine cases a better chance at survival than if they were not there.

No need to apologize! ;) I think you're the 2nd one that has asked to date. At this point no. As a small operation, we like to take on one project at a time so we're giving the XB design a shot at the moment. If the XB Case Sliders do well and there's enough demand for them on the 1125's, we'll consider it (or any other part that makes sense to make at decent quantities). Unfortunately, we do much less business with the 1125's as compared to the XB's...Probably due to the shear production numbers from Buell, so it's difficult to drum up enough demand for it in order to deliver parts at a good price for the 1125. Hopefully, that will change...

haha yeah I did try putting my foot up on it (hence the dirt scuff) but at 6'2" Ill keep my foot on the pegs :)
