hi guys hoping for some help here!!!! Im new to the buell fold and dont know my way around the beast yet, so i am wondering if the rear brake is really crap on everyone else's? I have changed caliper, pads, line and fluid, bled the system with a pressurised unit and its still ****E!!! all thats left is the master cylinder.Any thoughts or tips out there [confused]

Mine are pretty crappy too. I was chillin with a few buellers yesterday and asked them the same thing. They all agreed that the rear brake isnt that great. However, nobody I was with had an 08 or 09

I have an 09 and it sucks. Plan to get the Brembo 4 piston rear.

When I was running the pirelli diablos, I was locking up the rear all the time. Now that I have a Corsa IIIs, I dont as much. I think the rear break is fine, but I don't ride the rear, I engine break.... is that bad?

rear is mostly used to correct while in corners.
the real braking comes from the front. ;)

that reminds me... Lefox are you still planning on doing that 4 piston front conversion? Does the new 8 piston not interest you?

4? the one fitted has 6, so no...i won't be downgrading to a for, but upgrade to an 8 :o

I could have sworn it said 4.... I guessed I'm just confusing myself. I must be loosing it.

Sorry for getting distracted. Back to rear brakes. I agree with Lefox, the real breaking comes from the front.

lefox. what do you mean correcting in the corner and using the rear break. i was taught to do all breaking before entering a turn. and to never decelerate or break in a turn. im new to riding and just started so i am curious what advice you could offer about this technique. thanks

Ya my rear seems to get pretty weak after im riding for a bit. Its right on and easy to lock when i first start riding tho.

if you're new to riding, you should have no need for this yet...as you need to get to know your bike,
road, traffic, etc ;)

but sometimes you might need to avoid an object, a front drift or even re-evaluate you speed when a corner gets tighter, etc...
when at a decent lean-angle, you don't want to get more weight forward by braking with the front, but you do it with the rear.
it's a technique you'll learn after time, don't rush it ;)

The norm for braking is 70% front 30% rear so if you do not use the front you will certainly lock up the rear look at the size of your discs and you will understand what i mean HAPPY RIDING EVERYONE!
