I know it varies based on riding habits but I just picked up a 09 12X with 14.5K and was going on a cross state dirt road trip and was wondering if I should be concerned about the state of my clutch. My sportbikes lasted into the 20k's minimum. I don't know about these HD clutches. Thoughts?

My xb's clutch cable broke at around 8k... I am not sure on the average life though... Mine snapped from where that little nipple slides into the clutch lever.

I just broke 39,000 on the stock clutch... I ride it like I paid it.

gsxr: you'll be fine. these buell clutches are very robust units and i've seen late model sportsters(same basic components) that have been ridden sensibly go well over 60K miles on original clutch. if you're prepping for this ride i would at least lube the cable and do a quick clutch adjust....20 minute deal on these Ulys.

If you change trans fluid it will tell you if the clutch was abused by its smell and if its never been changed you should anyway or know if its changed.
