I have a 2003 XB9r. I have the original headlight factory assemblies. I would like a used set of the updated headlights, I believe they started using them in 2004 and up in the XB9r and the XB12r. Please email or call Chuck. Thanks. 419-283-3585

It's hard to tell, but I'm not sure if that headlight on eBay is the updated one. I didn't see the little circles on the front of the dome. I could be wrong though.

What is the difference?

try buellster.com or ironmachine.com

there is a few threads on this in the Buelpartsguy questions section..

the difference is the old reflector backing flaked off on the older ones and was recalled to update with better reflector backing..

I asked buellpartsguy about the partnumber for them and he said the new updated lights for the recall (&newer models) have a small circle in the center of the front glass that has a rough molded texture. and another says the new ones ring of cirles like the ones in this thread.

all 2007 + have the newer headlights. so you can buy those used.

Mine appear to be original (2003). I don't know how bad they actually are because I have yet to ride this bike at night. In the near future, I'm going to take them apart. I've had good luck refinishing flaking reflective material on car taillights in the past, so I will probably go that route. I'll post pics when I do it.

I believe the old ones had a tendency to melt too

Thanks everyone. The update version does have the circles on the lense. The one currently on Ebay is an old model. My old model headlights work fine but want the most visibility at night. If I can get a set for under $100, well worth the safety and better night vision.
